If you’re a scientist at Imperial College then the Royal College of Science Union (or RCSU for short) is your Constituent Union. It exists to entertain and represent you: to give you a wider Imperial experience than just studying and to help you when things go wrong. From the huge Freshers’s Ball to Club Nights, the RCSU will give you an opportunity to let your hair down and forget about equations
and titrations. If you fancy something a bit more athletic, you can join one of the RCSU sports clubs or take part in the RCSU Football League. You can try your hand at student journalism by writing for Broadsheet, the student newspaper of scientists at Imperial, or you can raise money for charity with the RCSU Raising and Giving (RAG) team! However, the RCSU is here for more than just entertainment: it’s here to represent you to College and elsewhere. From problems with your course to any welfare-related concerns, we’ll be here for you. We run a network of year and departmental representatives as your first point of contact, and we have dedicated Academic Affairs and Welfare Officers to help with your problems. We’ve helped students with problems from unmanageable work loads, bad lecturers through to lobbying MPs on visa charges for international students. The RCSU is built on the work of volunteers. Getting involved is not just a great fun, but it’s also an excellent learning experience in which you’ll meet lots of new people.
