Last week the Brewham Village Show was a tremendous success, bringing together the community for a wonderful day of celebration, creativity and good old-fashioned village spirit.
The show attracted a fantastic turnout, with a bumper selection of enthusiastic entries showcasing the talent, skill and imagination of residents of all ages. From prize-winning vegetables and beautiful flowers to baking, brewing, photography and arts and crafts, there was something to celebrate in every corner of the show.
Congratulations go to all this year’s cup winners:
The Harper & George Cup for most points in Vegetables and Fruit: Adam Davidson
The Priscilla Szymanski Perpetual Trophy for most points in Flowers: Katrin Davey Stolz
The Marion Castle Cup for most points in Baking: Cath Coward
The Libby Nye Cup for most points in Brewing, Jams and Pickles: Ian Jones
The Naden Cup for most points in Photography: Wayne Palmer
The Committee Cup for most points in Arts & Crafts: Angela Harper
The Seddon Cup for most points for children under 16: Tilly Clark
The Brewham Show Cup for most points overall: Adam Davidson
The Keith Barclay Memorial Cup for Best in Show: Angela Harper
This year also saw the introduction of two new trophies: the Committee Cup and the Libby Nye Cup, adding to the growing tradition of the Brewham Village Show.
The judges had the difficult task of selecting their favourites from an impressive range of entries. Their choices were Zena Dabinett for Vegetables and Fruit, Karen Wildgoose for Flowers, Lisa Thompson for Baking, Jo Lane for Brewing, Jams and Pickles, Jan Harvey for Photography, Angela Harper for Arts & Crafts, and Tilly Clark for Children Under 16. Angela Harper was also awarded the overall Best in Show cup.
Of course, a village show is about much more than trophies. Every person who entered helped make the event special, and the enthusiasm and effort on display were a wonderful reflection of the community.
The celebrations continued into the evening with a lively after-party, thanks to DJ Steve. It was a chance for everyone to relax, socialise and enjoy the success of the day — with the grown-ups even giving the children a run for their money on the dance floor!
There was also plenty of opportunity to enjoy the terrace with a Pimm’s or two, while supporting a great cause. In total, the show raised an impressive £770 for the village hall. This fantastic fundraising result will help support the hall and its future as an important hub for village activities, gatherings and events.
A huge thank you goes to all the organisers and volunteers, all 13 judges, Event Flag Hire for the flags and bunting, everyone who donated prizes or made contributions to the raffle and tombola, and of course all the participants, winners, supporters and everyone who came along on the day.
Their hard work, generosity and enthusiasm made this year’s Brewham Village Show a true triumph — not only in terms of entries and fundraising, but as a celebration of the community itself.
