⚽️ Could you help lead our club? ⚽️

Somerton Town YFC is looking for a new Chairperson to help guide our thriving community football club.

With over 300 young players, dedicated coaches and an incredible team of volunteers we are proud to provide football opportunities for children across Somerton and the surrounding area. Now we are looking for someone to help lead the next chapter of our journey.

This is a voluntary role and a fantastic opportunity to:
✅ Make a real difference in your local community
✅ Support hundreds of young people to enjoy sport
✅ Work alongside a passionate and friendly committee
✅ Help shape the future of one of Somerset’s growing grassroots football clubs

You don’t need to be a football expert. We are looking for someone who is organised, enthusiastic, community minded and enjoys bringing people together.

Whether you are a parent, former player, local resident or simply someone who wants to give back to the community we would love to hear from you.

We are inviting boys and girls from Reception to Year 2 to come along and give football a try at our FREE Open Fun Session.

No experience needed just bring plenty of enthusiasm!

A great evening for our goalkeepers yesterday with a dedicated session delivered by Steve Phillips Goalkeeping Academy⚽🧤

It was fantastic to be able to offer our keepers some specialist training focused on developing their skills, confidence and game understanding.

A huge thank you to Steve and Kev for putting on such a brilliant session the feedback from the players has been excellent! 👏

Our Wildcats sessions are all about creating a fun, welcoming space for girls aged 5–9 to make friends, build confidence and discover a love for football along the way 💜

⚽️ This weekend was one that truly shows what youth football is all about … even on Silent Support Weekend.

⚽️ The quieter sidelines certainly didn’t stop some fantastic performances across the club.

Special mention to two of our teams:

🏆 Our U10 Strikers delivered such a brilliant team performance that the coach genuinely couldn’t choose a single Player of the Match every one of them earned it!! 🙌🙌.

🏆 Our U15s also earned special recognition with their coach describing their performance as magnificent!. They came away with a brilliant 3–2 win over the league leaders continuing an impressive run with 6 wins from their 7 games so far. 🎉🎉

A huge well done to all our players this weekend.

👏👏Teamwork really does make the dream work!.

Today some of our players and volunteers proudly represented our Club at the Somerton Town Council Remembrance Parade and wreath laying.

We were honoured to have taken part in remembering and paying our respects to all those who have served and sacrificed. 🌺

Remembrance Parade

Sunday 9th November 2025

The Parade will assemble at Etsome Terrace at 9.15am for a 9.30am start, and will be led by the Kingsbury Episcopi Band.

We are very grateful to Chevron, who once again are providing their services for free to
marshall the rolling road closure.

During the service in St Michael & All Angels’ Church, there will be a collection for the Poppy Appeal, and afterwards we will gather at the War Memorial for the laying of wreaths and the reading out of the names of the fallen.

At 11.02am, weather permitting, the local flying club will do a Remembrance Flypast.

We will then reform and parade along West Street, returning to Etsome Terrace.

The rehersal time for flag bearers is 10am on Saturday 8th November at the church.
