🌟 NEWS FOR OUR MEMBERS — MORE CONNECTION, MORE COMMUNITY! 🌟
We have some really exciting news to share! 💛
From Thursday 3rd September, and then every Thursday we are delighted to be working in collaboration with The Solihull Indoor Bowls Club, who will be providing a delicious lunch following our Memory Café session. 🍽️
From just £3.50 members can stay on after the café and continue enjoying the company, conversation and friendships that make our Memory Café so special.
We know how important social connection and meaningful interaction are for people living with dementia. Having the opportunity to sit together, chat and enjoy lunch in a relaxed environment means the morning doesn’t have to end when the Memory Café does. ❤️

💜 CARING FOR SOMEONE WITH DEMENTIA — YOU’RE NOT ALONE
We are also delighted to be working with Evolve and Flourish to deliver a FREE workshop: “Caring for Someone with Dementia — You’re Not Alone.”
This will be a valuable opportunity to gain support, information and reassurance for anyone caring for someone living with dementia.
Places are limited, so if you would like to attend, please let me know and I can reserve your space.

🪁 UNDER THE SAME SKY
And there’s more!
On Thursday 3rd September, we will be taking part in an exciting project called “Under the Same Sky”, run through Austin Dance Theatre.
Our members will be getting creative in a kite-making workshop, with more details below. 🪁✨

We are incredibly grateful to Solihull Community Development Team, who have connected us with these wonderful organisations and helped us create new opportunities for our members, families and carers.
It’s fantastic to see our community continuing to grow, with new friendships, new experiences and new opportunities to come together. 🙏💛
Please message me for more details.

Healthwatch Solihull is inviting people living with dementia and those who care for someone with dementia to share their experiences of support received following a diagnosis. The findings will be shared with local organisations and decision-makers to help identify what is working well, where there may be gaps in support, and how services can be improved in the future.

💜 A Little Calm, A Lot of Wellbeing.
After some wonderfully busy sessions, it was time to slow things down and focus on wellbeing, relaxation and a little self-care. 💜

We were delighted to have the lovely Anna Parker with us, who treated our members to relaxing hand massages. The gentle touch and quiet time provided a lovely opportunity to unwind, helping to reduce tension and create a sense of calm.

Then the beautiful aroma of lavender filled the room as our members made their very own lavender scent bags to take home. 🌿💜

Lavender has long been associated with relaxation, and its gentle fragrance can create a calming and familiar sensory experience. For people living with dementia, familiar scents can also help evoke memories and provide comfort, while enjoyable, calming activities can support wellbeing and reduce feelings of stress or anxiety.

It was a peaceful, sensory filled session, a lovely reminder that sometimes slowing down is just as important as keeping busy. 💜🌿

To finish our Love2Move always a favourite 🤩

💙 What a fantastic session with Nicola from Light Yoga! 💙

Today, our members took part in a fun coordination workout, and they did fantastically well! 👏

Coordination activities are particularly beneficial for people living with memory challenges, helping to support balance, movement, concentration and the connection between the brain and body. They can also provide a great sense of achievement and confidence.

A brilliant session filled with movement, focus and plenty of encouragement! 🌟

🏆 Our Nomination for the Solihull Chamber Awards 2026! 🏆

We’re incredibly proud to have been nominated for Community Builder of the Year 2026! 💙

The pre awards is a wonderful opportunity to tell the Solihull Chamber, fellow nominees and the wider community all about our Knowle & Dorridge and Solihull Memory Cafés and the difference they make.

Our amazing team have worked incredibly hard to create welcoming, inclusive and supportive spaces for people in our community, living with memory challenges, as well as their families and carers. ❤️

To win would be a fantastic recognition of all the hard work, passion and commitment that goes into making our Memory Cafés what they are and would truly show that all our hard work has paid off.

🤞 Fingers crossed for a win on 11th September!

Thank You
for putting their trust, time and resources into this community project and supporting the vision from the very beginning.”

To our Amazing Volunteers we couldn’t do it without you 🙏

🎶 An uplifting morning at our Memory Café! 🎶

Paula led another fantastic Memories & Music session, with members singing along, playing a variety of instruments and sharing some very special moments together. Music has an amazing way of reaching people living with dementia, often bringing back cherished memories, lifting spirits and creating meaningful connections, regardless of where they are on their dementia journey.

We rounded off the morning with a game of bowls led by our very own Super Steve. It was lovely to see everyone getting involved, keeping active, building confidence and enjoying plenty of fun, laughter and friendship. It’s these shared experiences that make our Memory Café such a special place for everyone.
