🎨🧡 Six months of creativity, confidence and wonderful discoveries!

What an incredible way to finish our Art Project with Art at the Heart CIC! Our members have surprised themselves and their loved ones with the creativity and talent they’ve discovered along the way.

From this week’s favourite cat and dog paintings to celebrating six months of artwork, it’s been about so much more than painting. It’s about confidence, connection and living well with dementia.

A heartfelt thank you to Art at the Heart CIC for their inspiration and kindness, and to The Arts Society Solihull, whose generous donation made this project possible. 🧡

🎨 Celebrating Creativity at Solihull Memory Café! 🎨

This Thursday, 15th October, is our final art session with Art at the Heart after six wonderful months of painting and creativity.

We’ll be displaying all the fabulous artwork created by our members, and family and friends are warmly invited to pop in from around 12.15pm to see their achievements and celebrate with us. 🖼️

Why not stay for lunch? Solihull Indoor Bowls Club will also have its lunch menu available.

💙 From Sunlight to Something Beautiful! 💙

Well, what beautiful designs our members created at the Memory Café today! 🌿☀️

We had lots of fun discovering cyanotype printing – a simple photographic process where flowers, leaves and other objects are placed onto specially treated paper. When exposed to sunlight and then washed, the paper develops into those beautiful, striking blue-and-white designs. 💙

It was wonderful to see everyone choosing their own natural shapes and watching the magic happen as their designs appeared. Every one was completely unique! 🌸🍃

🪁 UNDER THE SAME SKY – ONE SKY, MANY STORIES! 🌈

Our members’ kites took to the skies at Tudor Grange Park on 3rd October as part of the wonderful Under the Same Sky project by Autin Dance.

💙 This beautiful blue kite was created by our member Wendy and flown by Tori from Autin Dance, What a fantastic way of bringing different
generations of our community together.

🩵 COMMUNITY UPDATE DEMENTIA SUPPORT & LOCAL INFORMATION

The Alzheimer’s Society will be joining us at both of our Memory Cafés this week.
If you’re worried about your own memory, or concerned about a family member or friend, come along and have a chat with Sally, the Dementia Adviser for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Sally can offer information, guidance and support around dementia, including what to do if you have concerns about memory, accessing support following a diagnosis, and support available for families and carers.

🏡 UPDATE ON AGE UK ADVICE HUBS
Age UK has supported many of our Memory Café members with practical advice, including help with Attendance Allowance, Blue Badges and Council Tax reductions.
This advice can make a real difference, helping people living with dementia to remain independent and live well at home.
The Age UK advice services will now transfer to Solihull Citizens Advice, who will continue to provide advice and support.
