This year's National Inclusion Week theme is "Break Barriers. Navigate Change."

It's a theme that speaks directly to the reality many HR and inclusion teams are facing right now: shifting expectations, tighter budgets, and closer scrutiny than ever before. Progress can feel harder to sustain when resources are stretched and priorities keep moving.

But, the theme is also a reminder that progress doesn't stop just because the path gets harder. It continues through listening, adapting, and taking action, even when the way forward isn't entirely clear.

Yesterday, England announced that they are rolling out new HPV self-testing kits to encourage more women to complete their potentially lifesaving screening to detect human papillomavirus (HPV), which can increase the risk of cervical cancer.

This is a huge milestone, and one that we support here at Start Differently .

It's especially meaningful as we continue building our friendly cervical screening chartermark, which supports healthcare providers committed to inclusive, person-centred care for neurodivergent women and people with a cervix, many of whom experience the screening process very differently from others.

Self-testing has the potential to remove real barriers to screening. Pairing that progress with genuinely neurodiversity-informed care means more people can access potentially lifesaving screening in a way that actually works for them.
