Morning, just a post to say please, please can you bare with us.

We are getting alot of calls with voice messages and texts saying they can't get hold of us, we are supposed to care for animals so why not bother answering, do we really care etc...

As most of you know, it's literally just a small number of us. We work, we have families, it's all VOLUNTARY.

Yes we are full at the moment, some animals are due to be released soon and we are working hard to make another room avaliable to house more animals.

We are only a small rescue and these things take time. We have to prioritise the animals we have here and make sure they are receiving the best care possible.

The calls are coming in thick and fast now, we cannot get back to everyone straight away. People have to bare with us.

In emergencies we've mentioned there is Hollytrees rescue in Birmingham and also Amicus our wildlife friendly vet who may be able to help. It's heartbreaking when people leave a nasty voicemail when we know we are doing everything we can. We do care, we are just stretched like everyone else.

Sorry to rant, we know it doesn't apply to everyone.

Take care.

Big shout out to this wonderful man Alun who's just starting out and helped us with relocating a shed and aviary, he's also been there to help with transporting different animals too. Honestly he makes our work so much easier. He is avaliable to help you too!

Mowing lawns, removing waste, clearing and giving your garden's a tidy up. Furniture removals and more. He's licensed and insured. He's just happy to help and genuinely a down to earth guy. You can call 07444147657, send him some pictures of what you need doing and he'll give you a fair quote.

❗️❗️Temporarily closed to new admissions❗️❗️

We are very sorry, but we are full at the moment and have to temporarily close to new admissions.

We can take in smaller babies/nestlings but not any larger animals until we release some of the ones we have in.

The alternative rescue in Birmingham is Hollytrees Rescue. For emergencies the animal can be taken to our wildlife friendly vets - Amicus vets in Shirley.

You can also head over to the Helpforwildlife directory where you'll find your nearest reputable rescue for animals.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience, we can still offer advice where we can.

Photo is of our most recent admission - fledgling blackbird attacked by a cat.

Some great advice from a fellow rehabber friend. 90% of the animals we are getting in at the moment are 'catted' animals.

⚠️Important information⚠️

As we're now into breeding season, we are seeing posts everyday about people's cat's taking home baby birds.

Alot are then just putting the bird back outside and hoping it's parents go back to it.
Even if it's parents return, that bird still needs to go into rescue.
Even without a visible scratch or bite, one drop of cat saliva causes sepsis in birds if not treated immediately with antibiotics.
If a cat has had any contact with a bird, the bird needs antibiotics.

Please always get help for a bird that's been 'catted', and please always make sure the rescue knows that a cat has been involved, otherwise they won't receive the correct treatment.

If you find a baby bird, please stay with it to protect it from predators, and call/text wildlife rescues for advice on what to do and whether to intervene.
Fledgling songbirds often need leaving alone, whereas young pigeons would need picking up.
If the baby has little to no feathering/eyes still sealed, it will need rescuing.

If the bird has been attacked by a cat, you need to get the bird safe in a box with a gentle heat source, such as a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel or blanket. Keep it dark and quiet to reduce stress, and find a wildlife rescue to help.
Never ever offer food or water, and never put water into a birds mouth as it causes them to aspirate and either die instantly, or slowly suffocate.

We also get alot of calls about fledglings in peoples garden, but they have cats or dogs.

Prevention is the best method. Keep your cat inside for a couple of days while the fledglings find their wings. Maybe block off abit of garden or take your dog out on a lead. It's only a few days.
That gives baby birds the best chance at life, and they have just as much of a right to be here as people, cats and dogs do. 💕

Precious little soul. She's still alive this morning but not out of the woods yet. We are feeding her every 20 minutes from dawn till dusk.

Good morning, here's a link to our amazon wish list for those asking. Thank you so much for your support.

Baby season is well under way now, 4 more Mallard ducklings have come in due to being found wondering around on their own.
A fledgling blackbird found alone and nearly preyed on by a cat.
Another blackbird nestling who came in today after being taken from her nest by a cat. She has a puncture wound on her back. We are desperately trying our best to keep her going but she is weak. She's being fed every 15-20 mins.
We've also had loads of baby pigeons in and our most recent baby came in after being attacked by crows.

As we head into baby season it will become very hard for us to get out and collect animals. These babies need feeding and care through out the day. So please if you can bring the animals to us, we would be very grateful. It really makes all the difference. If we do come out to you. Please consider giving a donation for fuel as this eases our costs and we can then spend it on supplies for the animals.

We are in desperate need of the microwavable heat pads, newspapers, pet bowls (ramekin dishes) and towels. If anyone can help. We would really appreciate it.
