We are absolutely delighted to share that BRAMA has won the Education Service Award at the Community Inspiration Awards 2026 (Community Foundation)

On 25 September 2026, we were honoured to be recognised for supporting refugee communities, including Ukrainian and Hong Kong arrivals, through:

📚 English language training
🌍 Cultural visits and integration opportunities
👩‍🏫 Employing teachers from refugee communities
🎓 Supporting teachers to gain recognised UK qualifications

The award was presented by Pat Carvalho, Principal and CEO of Birmingham MET College.

This year, the Community Inspiration Awards featured 21 categories, celebrating different aspects of community life. With hundreds of nominations, 8 finalists were shortlisted in each category, bringing together almost 170 exceptional finalists.

We are incredibly proud to be part of this inspiring community and especially grateful to our learners, teachers, volunteers, partners and supporters who make BRAMA’s work possible. ❤️

This award belongs to all of us.

September always marks the start of a new academic year for us. This year, we’ve welcomed our students to both in-person and online classes, and we’re so excited to be part of their learning journey.

Congratulations on this new beginning! We wish all our students the very best of luck and hope you enjoy every step of the journey. ❤️

Another milestone achieved! We taught English to more than 100 people over the past year. And more than 300 in the last 4 years. For a small charity, it’s a huge undertaking. And it’s only one of the projects we have done at BRAMA to support Ukrainians and other communities in Solihull and the surrounding areas.

The Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Sardul Singh Marwa MBE JP, visited our event and shared his personal story from arriving in this country as a newcomer, when he was a child, to becoming not only a Councillor but also the Mayor of an English town. His journey is a wonderful reminder that with determination and hard work, many things are possible.

A huge thank you to my amazing colleagues at BRAMA TRUST, our dedicated CELTA-trained English language teachers (most of whom are from Ukraine), Shirley Baptist Church, Solihull UK, Family Care Trust, Solihull Council, West Midlands Strategic Migration Partnership (WMSMP) and everyone who has supported us, whether through funding, volunteering their time, or simply believing in what we do.

What a wonderful evening we had yesterday! Thank you to everyone who joined us at The Courtyard Gallery (The Core Library) - the artists, families, friends and art lovers who made it such a warm and memorable occasion.

It was a real joy to celebrate the work of artists from Ukraine, Hong Kong and Afghanistan together in one room.

If you weren't able to come along, there's still time: the exhibition remains on display until 29 June 2026. Do pop in to see these remarkable works for yourself - we promise it's well worth the visit.

Many people kindly nominated our dear Chare Olga Meglinskaya for the VCFSE Organisational Leadership Award as part of the Solihull Civic Honours Awards 2026. She was delighted to be shortlisted alongside two other wonderful individuals. Here are Olga's heartfelt thoughts about this special recognition:

'I feel incredibly honoured to have been nominated.

Our work is about people who have experienced loss, displacement and uncertainty, yet show such resilience, strength and hope.

Thank you to our Trustees, volunteers and partners. And most of all, thank you to everyone who has trusted us to walk alongside you as you rebuild your lives.

So proud of what we are building together in Solihull. It means more than words can say.'

Also, we would like to thank Solihull Council and our partners for their ongoing support:

Family Care Trust, Shirley Baptist Church, Solihull UK, West Midlands Strategic Migration Partnership (WMSMP), The Core Theatre, Sport England, Everyone4sport, SI Solihull & District, Entraide UK
