What a day!!! Thank you to everyone who came to our stand and found about more about the Solihull Sikhs mentoring service.

We interviewed a number of job seekers and will be publishing the results this week on their biggest challenges and what sort of help they need.

Solihull Sikhs had a great night with a local scouts group. We spilt them into smaller groups and told them about Sikhi, including the symbols of Sikhi, teaching them how to tie a quick turban and getting them to write the first letter of their names in the Gurmukhi script…and sending them home with a maze to Anandpur Sahib. We also had the fabulous entertainer and storyteller Sohan Kailey join us to teach the children some banghra dancing as an example of Punjabi culture. We had a brilliant night, especially when the children and their parents bhangra danced together.

Highly Recommended Exhibition for Families

I recently visited a wonderful exhibition about Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji at the Nishkam Centre in Birmingham, and I wanted to share it with our Solihull Sikh community. The display is beautifully put together and offers a very informative, educational experience—especially for children.

It explains Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s life, teachings, and sacrifice in a way that young people can really understand and connect with. A great opportunity for families to learn together and reflect on our history and values.

If you’re looking for something meaningful and enriching for the kids, I’d definitely encourage a visit.
