Our aims
The Olton Project (TOP) delivers a wide variety of services to the public. We hold lessons that educate people of all ages about heritage, religion, languages and the future education of children within our community. TOP holds weekly coffee mornings, regular educational excursions and monthly movie nights among other events. TOP also works closely with charitable organisations to reliev
e poverty by holding events to raise money for charity. Religion and heritage
TOP supports the advancement of religious education. We hold regular religious classes, interfaith dialogue and spiritual sessions, which are all open to the public. We promote raising awareness of religious beliefs and practices and breaking down misconceptions, particularly within the faith of Islam. Reaching out to the community
We have met with other local organisations and our local MP, Mrs. Lorely Burt, who visited us at TOP to discuss the needs of our community. Feedback from trustees and the public is welcomed and sought after at every opportunity. Comments, criticisms and recommendations from the community and other organisations are reviewed and discussed during committee meetings in order to improve our service to the community. We publish a quarterly newsletter with information on previous and up and coming events at TOP, which is freely available to the public. Sponsorship
The majority of the events TOP runs are free of charge to the general public. Some of the heritage and language classes involve a small fee to cover the cost of the teachers, but a ‘hardship fund’ has been set up for classes where a fee is required, to ensure that people of poverty are not excluded from any of the educational events at TOP. Although educational excursions are heavily subsidised, at times, TOP is more than willing to sponsor any person that cannot afford to pay these fees using surplus money donated by its sponsors.
