Are you fed up of the World Cup already?
Is there nothing left on the tv to entertain you ?
Then why not spend the evening listening to music and supporting the fundraising for the repair of Christ Church Yardley’s lytch gate. The concert will be this Saturday at Immanuel Church, Highters Heath B 14 4TB
One of our art club members who is singing with the choir on Saturday said “ We had a fab rehearsal last night. It should be a very entertaining evening. Also supporting the choir is someone who sings professionally in musical theatre as well as a flute solo and a piano piece. All modern pieces……Motown Queen and a Les Mis Medley, as well as Fix You by Cold Play, and many others.”
Tickets are £7 each and you can pay on the door on the evening.

At the end of April we had our AGM. This year there were a few changes as I (Lynne Jones) stood down from the position of Chairperson to concentrate on the role of club Treasurer. I would like to thank everyone for their support over my many (30) years as Chairperson and to welcome Lesley Yaxley as new our Chairperson and hope that you will support her as she settles in and learns the role.
I was also delighted the following week at art club to be presented with the most beautiful arrangement of flowers and a Jackson’s art voucher from the club.
Thank you again and I wish you a good Bank Holiday
Lynne

Our very successful 3 day Spring Exhibition, where we sold 16 paintings, came to a close with prize giving and an exciting new award.
The theme for the Whitfield Trophy was “Abstract “ and Hamish Bowie was awarded the trophy for his picture “Titanium “
Joy Wybrow was awarded the Rose Bowl for her flower picture, as chosen by Gina Peake the Institute’s manager. The bowl was collected by Joy’s daughter Cathy Coles
The main trophy for the picture most voted for by the public was awarded to Barry Poxon for “ Buddies”.
We then had a new trophy awarded by Alison Williams in memory of her mother who sadly passed away last year just a few weeks short of her 100th birthday. Alison gave a speech explaining that the trophy was awarded for the best animal picture. Edna Tucker and Garry Norbury came joint third and received animal plant pots.
Lesley Yaxley came second and received a cake. And Barry Poxon came first with his picture “ hands off he’s mine”
Alison then generously supplied cup cakes for all.
Our next exhibition will be in October
