R.I.P Soham Youth Takeover!

Tomorrow (21st October) is sadly our last youth club session so we're having a Halloween party!!

EVERYONE is welcome, past and present to say goodbye to our wonderful youth club.

Hopefully we can restart it again in the future.

There will be spooky games, tuck and pizzas of course.

After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close down the youth club. Despite our efforts, we’ve faced ongoing challenges in recruiting volunteers, and our participation numbers have also declined.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has volunteered or led sessions with Soham Youth Takeover. Your contributions have been invaluable.

While we hope to relaunch the club in the future, for now, we must say goodbye to Soham Youth Takeover. Our final session will be next week, as we don't run during the holidays. We'll be celebrating with a fun-filled Halloween event.

Next week is NATIONAL BAKING WEEK so what better way to celebrate it than to decorate (and eat) some cookies!

We'll provide one cookie each and some things to decorate them with but any donations would be welcome.

Any donations of drinks would be lovely too.

We only have 3 volunteers for Monday's sessions and we need a minimum of 6 (5 if we have a smaller amount of kids).

Unfortunately, this means I am cancelling next Monday's session (30th).

Unfortunately, there will be no tuck at Soham Youth Takeover this evening as there has been a delay with the order.

Please send your child with a drink as there refreshments also have been delayed.

Due to insufficient volunteers and other issues such as tuck delivery, Soham Youth Takeover have decided to postpone the starting of our youth club until next week.

Please ensure you complete the new membership form and sign up to volunteer before next week.

A reminder that in order for the youth club to run effectively and safely, we MUST have the correct ratio of volunteers to adults. Therefore, we need 6 adults every week.

13 parents/carers have completed the new membership form, which we really appreciate so THANK YOU VERY MUCH for doing this.

Unfortunately, only 6 parents/volunteers have signed up to volunteer between this week and next.

Without enough volunteers, we cannot run this youth club effectively and safely and will therefore need to seriously consider the future of Soham Youth Takeover if this does not change.

We understand that there will be circumstances that result in you being unable to volunteer and would appreciate you contacting us about this, as we will be giving every parent/carer of children a date to volunteer after half-term if willing volunteers do not come forward.

The volunteer rota is pinned to the top of our private youth club page for parents/carers.

Soham Youth Takeover starts again tonight.

A polite reminder that if you have not completed the new youth membership form below BEFORE the session this evening, your child WILL NOT be able to stay unless you are planning on staying with them.

Soham Youth Takeover will be back on Monday 16th September at 6-7:30pm once everyone has settled back into the routine of school.

It's almost time for the new school year to start again!

How excited are we parents? 🤣

We will give everyone time to settle in then we will start Soham Youth Takeover up again. We'll confirm the start date in the next week so watch this space.

In the meantime, we're switching to online youth membership forms to save on paper.

If your child would like to come to Soham Youth Takeover again, or you think they might in the near future, please could you complete the new youth membership form BEFORE they come along to a session, not when they get there. You will only need to do this once.

We have shredded all previous membership forms so everyone who came previously will need to complete a new form.

Also, a little heads up...

We struggled for volunteers last year therefore, we have made the decision that every family who has a child attending Soham Youth Takeover, MUST volunteer at least once a month or find someone to stand in on their behalf, otherwise their child may not be able to attend.

We understand that we are all busy, that it is nice to have time without our children or that they maybe don't want their parent to help at their youth club as it's not cool, however without enough volunteers each week, we cannot run the youth club safely and a decision will have to be be made about the future of the youth club in December.

We appreciate you understanding and co-operation with this.

Well that's all folks!!

We hope you have had as much fun as we have.

We look forward to doing some more fun things with you after the summer.

Please keep an eye out on our page and private parents' group for updates about Soham Youth Takeover updates over the summer, starting with new membership forms.

We will be shredding all membership forms in the next couple of weeks and asking you to complete our new, online membership forms before September.

Monday 15th July is our LAST SESSION 😭 (until September at least).

We're going to have a bit of a party and we NEED YOUR HELP please.

We'd like to do a POT LUCK PICNIC where everyone brings something different for us to share.

For example...

Sausage rolls
Cupcakes
Sweets
Cheese
Pork pies
Crisps etc

We'll still get pizzas to enjoy.

Please can everyone also bring a water bottle as we've run out cups for drinks.

Unfortunately we only have 3 volunteers available and we need AT LEAST 5.

In future, if there isn't enough volunteers signed up by 3pm on a Friday for the following Monday, I will be cancelling the session.
