PART 2 of 2:
The East Riding of Yorkshire has a fascinating RAF history, and the second part of our journey through the county uncovers even more remarkable stations and stories.
From the bomber bases of Holme-on-Spalding Moor, Pocklington and Snaith, to Cold War radar sites like Holmpton, the region played a vital role in defending Britain for decades. You'll also discover RAF Leconfield, where the first Allied aircraft crossed into German airspace at the start of WWII, and RAF Lissett, where the sacrifices of Halifax crews are still remembered today.
Many of these airfields have disappeared from the landscape, but their stories remain an important part of RAF heritage.
