Our NAAFI volunteer Bethany is rolling up her sleeves and “Digging for victory” ready for our 1940’s weekend on the 12th & 13th September as we get preparations done to welcome you all!

We have a spitfire on site, military vehicles and demonstrations, a fly past by the BBMF, and a star of “Band of Brothers”, and our large band of YouTube friends for you to meet too!


We can’t wait to see you here!

Don’t forget folks!

Our 1940’s weekend approaches, bigger and better than ever!

Not only the usual fantastic reenactment groups, stalls and fantastic live entertainment, but this year we have a celebrity appearance from friend of the museum and “Band of Brothers” star, Matt Leitch! And the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and so much more!

So come see us and take yourselves back to the 1940’s this 12th and 13th September!

Today is the 83rd anniversary of J for Jane’s last flight. She is one of the main reasons our museum is here. She returned home a few years ago thanks to our wonderful friends in The Netherlands. Today we remember her crew as well as all those who gave their lives for us. 23rd August 1943...

In 1943 sabotage struck 51 Squadron. Halifax MKII HR 936 MH- J ( Jane ) took off for Berlin. Everything started fine but while over the North Sea it was found the elevator control was not working and should they go into a dive they couldn't pull out of it. The flight engineer examined the rod which had been partially cut through and had now snapped.... They had been meant to crash on take off! With the Dutch coast only 20 miles away that's where they headed and then up North instead of across towards Germany. The order to jump was given and they all got out before the aircraft crashed into the back of a farmhouse in Grijpskerk

Massive thank you to Lindholme Motor Sports Club for joining us again at the museum and using us as a base for their tour of the area!

Great to see such wonderful machines of all shapes and sizes! We all picked our favourites!

We even had a few cars onsite to add to the mix for our visitors this year!
