Curriculum, Climate Change and Careers came to life yesterday as our 7 finalist schools came together to present their ideas on tackling .
Year 10 students from:
Wexham School
Slough and Eton Church of England Business and Enterprise College
Beechwood School
The Westgate School, Slough
The Langley Academy
Churchmead Church of England (VA) School
Herschel Grammar School
participated in the Climate Change Challenge and yesterday, at the Grand Final, our winners from each school delivered their thought proving presentations, showcasing their ideas on “How technology can help to tackle climate change”.
Partnering with Learning to Work, this Equinix, Inc. Orange Business and Plus X Innovation Inter-Schools competition engaged over #900 young people, supporting them to think about the climate crises the world is heading towards.
The power of and working together was high on the agenda with the students as we all recognised the task ahead is now beyond any individual or group, it is only by us all working together that will follow, the future of our planet clearly lies in all our hands.
Business volunteers and judges were absolutely blown away by the ideas, research, passion and teamwork shown by everyone,which made the decision of selecting a winning team particularly difficult!
After much deliberation and fantastic feedback, James Tyler (MD Eqinix) Simon Ranyard, (Orange Manager) and Toby Kress (CEO Plux X Innovation) announced -
'Blue Horizon' from Beechwood School
- as winners of the Equinix, Orange Business and Plus X Innovation Climate Change Challenge 2025!
The Climate Change Challenge was the perfect project to generate vital discussions around climate change and how we all need to take responsibility and do our bit, it also developed a range of much needed and highly valued skills for the workplace, it really was the perfect applied learning school project and once again highlighted the vital role business plays in not just preparing young people for the world of work but also bringing the curriculum to life.
