Happy Friendship Day from all of us at Dabiici Movement CIC.

True friendship is more than sharing laughter. It’s standing beside one another, protecting each other’s wellbeing, and reminding each other that we are enough just as we are.

This Friendship Day, let’s be the kind of friends who:

Lift each other up instead of tearing each other down.

Encourage healthy choices over harmful beauty standards.

Celebrate natural beauty, confidence, and self-worth.

Create safe spaces for honest conversations without judgment.

Real friends don’t pressure you to change who you are.
They remind you that your value has never depended on the colour of your skin.

The conversation around skin bleaching often starts when the damage has already been done.

Burning.
Dark spots.
Redness.
Melasma.
Thinning skin.

These aren’t just “skin problems” that appear overnight. They can be warning signs that your skin has been exposed to products that may compromise its natural barrier and, in some cases, contain harmful ingredients.

At Dabiici Movement CIC, this isn’t about blame or judgement. We understand that many people grow up surrounded by beauty standards, social pressures and misinformation. Our goal is to create honest conversations, increase awareness and empower our community with evidence-based information.

Healing begins with honesty. And change begins with conversation.

Every African girl deserves to grow up believing that her skin is something to protect, not change.

Today, on the International Day of Women and Girls of African Descent, we celebrate the strength, resilience and limitless potential of African women and girls around the world.

Yet for millions, colourism continues to shape how they see themselves. Harmful beauty standards have normalised skin bleaching, putting health, confidence and even lives at risk.

At Dabiici Movement CIC, we are committed to changing that narrative through education, advocacy and community action. We envision a future where African girls inherit confidence instead of insecurity, pride instead of pressure, and the freedom to embrace the skin they were born in.

Because protecting African women also means protecting their health, their identity and their dignity.

Today, and every day, we stand with women and girls of African descent.

Not every journey with skin bleaching begins with self-hatred. Sometimes, it begins with a single comment. A “compliment.” A comparison. A moment that quietly changes how someone sees themselves.

One year ago, Dabiici Movement was just an idea.

Today, it is a registered Community Interest Company with one clear mission:

To educate, advocate and create honest conversations about skin bleaching, colourism, confidence and health within our communities.

This first year hasn’t been about being perfect. It’s been about showing up, learning, listening and laying the foundations for something bigger than ourselves.

Thank you to everyone who has followed our journey, shared our content, believed in our vision and supported our mission.

This is only the beginning.

Here’s to another year of education, advocacy and community.
