🐘 TRUNKS ACROSS THE THAMES HAS ARRIVED IN SLOUGH! 💚

Have you spotted these amazing elephants around Slough?

I recently came across one of the beautiful sculptures and it is fantastic to see our streets and public spaces filled with colour, creativity and something that brings people together.

Trunks across the Thames is a free public art trail organised by Thames Hospice in partnership with Wild in Art. More than 90 elephant sculptures are appearing across Slough and Windsor this summer.

But there is an important reason behind the fun.

The trail is helping raise vital funds and awareness for Thames Hospice and the important care they provide to local families.

It is also a great opportunity for families, residents and visitors to explore different parts of our community and support local businesses along the way.

Well done to everyone involved in bringing this wonderful project to Slough. 🐘👏

Hot and dry weather can quickly turn a small spark into a serious wildfire.

BBQs, campfires, ci******es and discarded litter can all create a fire risk.

Please help protect our parks, green spaces and local communities.

🔥 Do not start bonfires

🔥 Do not use disposable barbecues

🔥 Do not use fireworks

🚬 Dispose of cigarette ends and other litter properly

🍾 Glass bottles can also increase fire risk in hot weather

If you see a fire in an open space, call 999 immediately.

Let’s enjoy our parks responsibly and help keep Haymill and Slough safe for everyone.

WHAT SHOULD OUR PRIORITIES BE FOR THE NEXT 12 MONTHS? 💙💚💛

My Vision for Haymill & Slough 2030 is about where we want to be in the future.

But change happens one step at a time.

Before we talk about the next big plans, I want to hear directly from the people who live here.

What matters most to you and your family?

Here are some of the priorities we have already discussed:

1️⃣ Cleaner streets and tackling fly tipping

2️⃣ Safer roads and better traffic management

3️⃣ Better parks and community facilities

4️⃣ Better bus stops and public transport

5️⃣ Street lighting and community safety

6️⃣ More trees and greener streets

7️⃣ Recycling and donation points

8️⃣ Support for local businesses

9️⃣ Better opportunities for young people

🌟 MY VISION FOR HAYMILL & SLOUGH 2030 🌟

Every community deserves a clear vision for the future.

Over the past few months, I have listened to residents, spoken with families, and shared practical ideas to improve life in Haymill and across Slough.

My vision is simple.

A cleaner, safer, greener, and more connected community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

By 2030, I would like to see:

🧹 Cleaner streets with less litter and fly tipping.

🚦 Better roads, smarter traffic management, and safer school routes.

🌳 More trees, greener streets, and better maintained parks.

🛝 Public parks with toilets, drinking water, and modern play facilities.

🚏 Better bus stops with seating, lighting, and real time travel information.

💡 Well lit streets and pathways where residents feel safe.

❤️ Public defibrillators in every ward to help save lives.

📢 Community notice boards that keep residents informed and connected.

⚡ More EV charging points for residents without driveways.

♻️ Local recycling and donation points that reduce waste and support charities.

📹 Better CCTV coverage to tackle anti social behaviour and fly tipping.

🏪 Strong support for local businesses and independent shops.

🏥 Accessible healthcare and public services.

🎓 More opportunities for children and young people.

🤝 A council that listens, works with residents, and delivers value for every pound of council tax.

This is not about politics.

It is about building a community that we can all be proud of.

I know one person cannot achieve everything alone, but together we can make a real difference.

I will continue listening, learning, and working with residents because the best ideas come from the people who live here every day.

Today is another year of life, and I feel truly grateful.

I would like to sincerely thank everyone who took the time to send birthday wishes, messages, calls, and prayers. Your kindness and thoughtful words have made my day even more special.

Life is a journey of learning, serving others, and growing together. I look forward to another year of working with our community, listening to residents, and doing my best to make a positive difference.

More people are considering switching to electric vehicles, but for many residents in Haymill and Slough, there is one major obstacle.

Where do you charge your vehicle if you don’t have a driveway?

Many households rely on on street parking, making it difficult to benefit from the transition to electric vehicles.

As we move towards a greener future, we need practical solutions that work for everyone.

Some ideas could include:

🔋 More on street charging points.
🚗 Charging facilities in public car parks.
🏘️ Charging hubs near residential areas.
⚡ Better planning for new developments.
🌱 Fair access for residents without private driveways.

No one should be excluded simply because of where they live.

Strong communities stay connected.

Many residents are unaware of local events, volunteering opportunities, community projects, or support services simply because there is no central place to share information.

I believe every ward should have a well maintained community notice board in a prominent location where residents can easily stay informed.

Community notice boards could include:

📅 Local events and activities.
🤝 Volunteering opportunities.
🏛️ Council announcements and service updates.
🐶 Missing pets and lost property.
🎉 Community celebrations and local achievements.
❤️ Charity events and fundraising activities.
👥 Support groups and local organisations.

Not everyone uses social media. A simple notice board could help ensure everyone has access to important local information.

Small ideas like this can help bring neighbours together and strengthen our communities.

❤️ SHOULD EVERY WARD HAVE A PUBLIC DEFIBRILLATOR? ❤️

A cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, at any time, without warning.

In those critical first few minutes, access to a publicly available defibrillator can make a life saving difference while waiting for emergency services to arrive.

I believe every community should have easy access to a defibrillator in places where people gather, including:

❤️ Shopping parades.
❤️ Community centres.
❤️ Sports facilities.
❤️ Public parks.
❤️ Libraries.
❤️ Places with high public footfall.

Many communities across the UK have already installed publicly accessible defibrillators. I believe Haymill and Slough should continue to expand access so that no family is left without help in an emergency.

This is not about politics. It is about protecting lives.

As temperatures rise during the summer, access to free drinking water becomes increasingly important.

Many families, children, walkers, runners, and visitors spend time in our parks and public spaces, yet there are very few places where people can refill a water bottle or access clean drinking water.

Installing drinking water fountains in key locations could help:

💧 Keep residents hydrated.
💧 Reduce plastic bottle waste.
💧 Support healthier lifestyles.
💧 Help families and children using our parks.
💧 Make public spaces more welcoming and accessible.

Many towns and cities are investing in public water refill points. Should Haymill and Slough do the same?
