From an empty hillside to a house of Allah πŸ•Œ

In May 2026 the ground was cleared at Uganda Technical College Bushenyi. In October, the first prayer was held inside the new Masjid Aiyoob Yusuf Bolia.

Watch the whole journey: breaking ground, walls and roof going up, the ribbon cutting, the first congregation, new Qur'ans, a sound system for the adhan, and a water point so students no longer walk long distances for wudu water.

"They have truly changed our lives with this blessed masjid." (a student at the opening)

This is sadaqah jariyah. Every prayer, every recitation and every wudu keeps benefiting the one who gave.

Help build the next one. Β£7,300 builds a community masjid in Uganda for 250+ worshippers, or give any amount towards it.

"Our feelings can't be described." πŸ•Œ

This is the very first prayer inside Masjid Al-Hujjaj, a new masjid built for Syrian refugees returning home with the help of Global Helping Hands donors.

For years these families were far from their homes and far from their masjids. Now the doors are open. The carpets are down. Men, elders and young boys walked in, lined up shoulder to shoulder and prayed together for the first time.

In the words of the community:
"Without doubt, among the greatest blessings Allah has given us is that Allah provided us with people to build masjids."
"It's as if one has returned to their true home."
"May Allah reward everyone who helped build it."

The Prophet ο·Ί said: "Whoever builds a masjid for Allah, Allah will build for him a house like it in Paradise." (Bukhari & Muslim)

Every prayer, every lesson and every child who learns Qur'an here is sadaqah jariyah for the people who made it happen. If you gave towards this masjid, this is your reward still growing.

πŸ“¦ Food basket distribution in Sri Lanka πŸ‡±πŸ‡°

Today our team handed out food baskets to families who were struggling to put meals on the table: sacks of rice, bottles of cooking oil and boxes of essentials, all under the Global Helping Hands banner.

Look at the faces in this video. A mother holding a box that will feed her family for weeks. A little girl proudly carrying a bottle of cooking oil almost as big as she is. Grandparents, widows and children all queuing for something many of us never think twice about: food in the kitchen.

None of this happens without you. Every rice sack and every box was funded by a GHH donor who chose to share what Allah gave them. Jazakum Allahu khayran to every one of you 🀲

The Prophet ο·Ί said: "The believer is not the one who eats his fill while his neighbour goes hungry." (al-Bukhari, al-Adab al-Mufrad)

Behind every chair in this waiting room is a family who needed care they couldn't reach alone. 🩺

This is the GHH Pakistan Medical Fund at Life Care Hospital. Mothers with young children, elderly patients and whole families come through these doors, and our medical team sees them one by one.

None of it happens without you. Every donation to the Medical Fund keeps this clinic running and gives families in Pakistan access to the care they need.

"There's one small mattress and this bed."

That is what our team found when they walked into a home in the North Bank Region of The Gambia this summer.

A widowed mother with ten children. Mud walls that are visibly falling down. A thatch roof. A few goats tied up outside β€” her way of trying to make ends meet. And children who, in her own words, have nothing waiting for them otherwise.

None of the orphans in that home are sponsored.

Our UK team didn't send a report from a desk. They travelled to the villages, sat on the floor with these families and saw the conditions for themselves β€” because that is the only way to know exactly where your donation is going.

The Prophet ο·Ί said: "I and the one who cares for an orphan will be together in Paradise like this" β€” and he held up his two fingers together. (Sahih al-Bukhari)

Β£30 a month sponsors one orphan in The Gambia: food, clothing, schooling, and a team on the ground who goes back and checks.

"So we've come to the opening."

Duru Village, The Gambia. Our trustee Dr Hamza is stood beside Masjid Bilal β€” the masjid GHH built here in 2024 β€” with a row of schoolboys in green uniform behind him.

Until now, the families here walked a long way for water. Every litre, every day.

With your donations we've been able to upgrade the whole facility: a new borehole, a raised storage tank, and a tiled tap stand under the Gambia Water Project sign. In the video you'll see the moment the children reach up and turn the taps on for the first time β€” something we never think twice about back home in the UK.

But watch to the end, because there's a second story.

The overflow from the well isn't running to waste. It's being channelled into the ground to irrigate a row of newly planted banana trees. Clean water first, then food, then a little income for the village. One well, three benefits, and it keeps giving every single day.

That's what sadaqah jariyah means β€” a charity that carries on rewarding you long after the day you donated.

We're ready to build the next one. Help us get it in the ground:

Our UK trustees have just returned from The Gambia. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡²

Every year our team travels out to inspect the projects our donors funded β€” water wells, masjids and schools β€” one by one.

This is one of them: the Gambia Water Project tap stand at our school in Dembu Village, West Coast Region. A solar panel feeding a raised tank, with taps running all day for the pupils you see here β€” clean water for drinking, for wudhu, and for washing before class.

It was built. It is still working. That is the whole point of sadaqah jariyah: it keeps giving long after the donation.

We check because you trusted us with your money, and you deserve to know it is still standing.

More media from our team on the ground in The Gambia over the coming days.

200 food baskets. One field in Sri Lanka. One morning. πŸ‡±πŸ‡°

Before the sun was properly up, our team was already out on the ground β€” laying out every single box in long rows across the field, one for each family on the list.

Then came the part you rarely see: the filling. Rice. Flour. Cooking oil. Lentils. Spices. Our team walked the rows again and again, adding one item at a time to 200 boxes, until every basket held enough for a family to cook proper meals for weeks β€” not a single hot meal, but weeks of cooking in their own home.

When the drone lifts, you can see what your generosity actually looks like: row after row after row of food, waiting for the families who need it.

And then they came. Mothers, fathers, grandparents, children β€” the whole village walking down to the tent to collect a box each, carrying flour sacks home on their shoulders and smiling all the way.

Global Helping Hands operates a 100% donation policy. Every penny you give goes to the people you just watched receive it β€” not to our overheads.

What if you could change one orphan's whole life β€” and actually know their name? 🀍

Alhamdulillah, you can now sponsor an orphan 1-to-1 through GHH. This isn't a faceless donation: you'll receive regular personal updates and can communicate directly with the child you support through our platform. You become the reason they smile.

πŸ’š Share this post so another orphan finds their sponsor β€” and comment "Ameen" for the children waiting.
