Rotary Technology Tournament
The Rotary Club of Sleaford Kesteven has held its annual Terchnology Tournament at the Kesteven and Sleaford High School. This is the 5th year we’ve held the event that helps support and develop the students STEM skills (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). This year we had 100 competitors (25 teams of 4), from our 5 local secondary schools - Kesteven & Sleaford High School, Sir William Robertson Academy, St George’s Sleaford, Carre’s Grammar and St George’s Ruskington. For the first time the event was sponsored by Grumwald UK and its support enabled the event to offer improved facilities and equipment for the students. The task was to design and construct a weight powered vehicle up a slope with the winning teams achieving the furthest distance. Marks were also given for the design of the vehicle and the collaboration between the team members. The Judges came from Grumwald UK-Lincoln and Lincs Design Group-Sleaford. There were two categories: The Foundation (yr 8) was won by a team from Sir William Roberson Academy Welbourn, while the Intermediate (yr 10) was won by a team from Kesteven and Sleaford High School. Congratulations to all involved and not just the winners.
