On 12th December St Botolphs had a ceremony of passing for Bro Addison.

What a wonderful evening, one i know Bro Addison will never forget, smiling from the minute he walked in the door to until he left being the Christmas meeting it is usually busy, however the Lodge room was full the likes of which we have not seen since pre Covid days it was absolutely amazing.

The attention that the DC put into the ceremony was second to none and his Team which was lead from his example followed suit. Bro Addison we look forward to your future in St Botolphs you bring an aura with you that is truly amazing an inspiration to initiates that follow.

The festive board was also a very special occasion with the rooms being very festive a huge £580 was raised in a bumper raffle. With some 78 dining. A wonderful end to the year with a brass band and lots of Christmas carols.

So we all know the benefits of Lodge of Instruction, and we also are aware of the importance of Visiting , striking up new friendships that will Last a lifetime, on Saturday 16th November Members of Goodwill Lodge of Instruction From (LOI for Sleaford center) did both.

A couple of years ago, WBro Suiter visited Goodwill as the Provincial representative, he has been an avid visitor ever since, He is WM of a Lodge that meets on Great Queen Street so we decided to start visiting his Lodge. So number of us from Goodwill LOI go to visit Yeatman Biggs Lodge 2672. For many of you that dont know, the Lodge was formed in Calcutta in 1897, the History and Rituals are amazing and if you can i would say a visit will surprise you.

Always a very good day out and a very warm welcome. Photos shows us standing in the very wonderful doorway and also some gavels being presented from Goodwill to the Lodge for use at the festive board.

On 14th November St Botolphs Lodge had a ceremony of Passing for Bro Belcher.

Our DC had a few alterations to make for this ceremony as Bro Belcher having fallen over on the Monday before our meeting was very sore and fragile, also only just having got over Covid the week before, once again the Team of Officers came to his aid in true Masonic form and carried out the ceremony in a very gentle way allowing Bro Belcher to rest when needed.

The Phone call the Worshipful Master took from Bro Belcher the next morning truly showed how much it meant to him the care that the team had given him. A huge well done to every one involved.

Rough Ashlar Club formed to help newer members get more from their Freemasonry

A new club called the Rough Ashlars has been formed to help Lincolnshire’s newer Freemasons get more from their membership.

Chairman Mike Coleman writes: “Welcome to Freemasonry and in particular to the Province of Lincolnshire. To assist you in the early stages of your journey, The Rough Ashlars is a Light Blue Club set up to support new and young Masons throughout the Province.

As your Initiation may be somewhat of a blur, we would recommend as early as possible that you visit another Lodge and witness the ceremony that you have been through. To enable you to do this The Rough Ashlars have regular visits to initiations, and we would encourage you to come along and meet members of the Club and new initiates.

What do we do?
We meet throughout the province and help new members navigate their first steps in Freemasonry by joining together for regular social events which can include anything from pub quizzes, brewery visits, go-karting along with anything else that the members wish to do. In addition, we visit Lodges on nights of initiation to welcome new members.

What does it cost?
Absolutely nothing. You are already a member. Some activities may require a ticket to cover the cost of admission but otherwise The Rough Ashlars is completely free.

We do however suggest that you purchase a specially commissioned Club Tie at a cost of £20, which by kind permission of the Provincial Grand Master, can be worn at meetings and social occasions.

Sounds great! What do I do next….

I’ve added the poster below advertising the open day at the Sleaford Masonic Lodge Rooms on to the Lets Talk Sleaford page. It has a membership of about 18k aside from a few expected negative comments it certainly seems to have nudged peoples interest in Freemasonry. Let’s hope lots of people come along.

Wow what a first half of the year this has been in St Botolphs lodge, having 5 initiates being brought into Freemasonry. And two Freemasons passing to the degree of Fellowcraft.

We are now heading into the summer recess, we have a very busy rest of the year ahead, with one more candidate to be initiated, and various double ceremonies to be carried out. Plenty of work for the DC and his team.

We all look forward to seeing you all back in September, But if you are missing Lodge during the summer, Just remember Brethren we have Goodwill Lodge of Instruction for you to attend and learn any ritual you would like to.

On 9th May we had our first double 2nd or the year.

I would like to say congratulations to Bro Blunden and Bro Blakemore for passing to the degree of a fellowcraft, continuing your wonderful journey in freemasonry.

We were also honoured on the evening to have WBro Derek Allenby celebrating his 50th year in masonry in St Botolphs Lodge. (actually on the day) congratulations Derek.

WBro Phil Odling delivered a moving tribute to Derek and the Lodge about all Derek has done for the good of St Botolphs and freemasonry in general, having held a various offices of the lodge during his masonic journey.
