Shire Lodge 5610 - Sleaford, Lincs

Shire Lodge 5610 - Sleaford, Lincs We are a lodge of Freemasons that meet in Sleaford, Lincolnshire from Sept to April. Every member who joins has a different view on what Freemasonry is to them.

To some it is a place to make new friends. To others, it is another way to contribute to society, as Freemasonry is one of the largest charitable organisations in the world. It is apolitical and non-religious and focuses on improving yourself both morally and spiritually. We meet in Sleaford, Lincolnshire eight times a year starting in September and finishing in April. We always meet at 18:00 on t

he third Friday of the moth. We love to welcome visiting masons and you can book a meal by sending us a message here on Facebook. If you would like to know more about Shire Lodge or you would like to have a chat with a view to becoming a mason one day you can message us here.

Gainsborough hospital joins the Teddies for Loving Care charity scheme

Gainsborough’s John Coupland Hospital is the latest to have joined the Freemasons’ Teddies for Loving Care charity scheme.

With more than four million bears already given to comfort children going through traumatic times in their lives the latest batch of bears will support staff in offering treatment.

Thanks to the Freemason-funded charity’s Lincolnshire co-ordinator Graham Cadel the bears are offered in Lincoln, Boston, Skegness, Louth, Grantham, and Scunthorpe. “And now we’ve added Gainsborough we’re ahead of my ambition to deliver bears to Diana Princes of Wales Hospital in Grimsby, and to the Citizens’ Advice Bureau in Boston,” said Graham.

He added: “It’s hard to underestimate the positive impact of these little bears can have not only on the children themselves, but also their families and the hospital staff who give them. For the children they’re a simply source of comfort, and often become favourite toys. For families, there’s comfort in knowing that complete strangers – the Freemasons – understand the difficulties they face at that moment in their lives, and want to help. And to the hospital staff they can make it simpler to give treatment to a potentially-distressed child. Our bears have been stitched, scanned, injected, and bandaged by staff to remove some of the fear children may face.

“The bears all mean so much to their new owners. In on instance a girl suffering severe spinal injuries was in hospital for weeks. When she was discharged all she took away was her Teddies for Loving Care bear. Little things can mean such a lot, especially when they’re little bears. You can’t put a price on something like that.”
