Today, our Grantmaker Cavan has been in North Thoresby to see progress on a number of ELIF and UKSPF GRASSroots Grant funded projects. The village has been transformed through grants provided in partnership with East Lindsey District Council and the wider South and East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership which have been given to a number of incredible projects across the village including:

🏛️🎨 the Connected Project championed by North Thoresby Community Events Association which has developed a new central website source for information about local groups and services as well as improving access to heritage and arts across the village

👥 the development of new community space from a disused committee room by North Thoresby, Grainsby & Waithe Parish Council

🌳 the creation of a new community orchard space - North Thoresby Community Orchard

⚽️ the purchase of equipment including items to extend parking facilities at North Thoresby Football Club

🏏 and the renovation of toilets, kitchen units and worktops as well as a new hot water system within the Clubhouse at North Thoresby Cricket Club

So much has gone into and is continuing to be put into these projects from local people to create and improve spaces where community members come together as well as supporting increased access to services and activities. It is wonderful to see that these efforts are already providing a huge amount of strong, visible impact for those living in North Thoresby with these benefits expected to be felt both now and into the future.

We were delighted to be invited to the preview evening for Sculpture at Doddington Hall and Gardens last Friday to get an exclusive look at over 350 sculptures that will be on site throughout the summer. The Hall holds a special place in the hearts of the team at LCF with it being the venue for our 20th anniversary celebration event a few years ago and we are always grateful for the opportunity to visit again, especially when it is to view works that will aid efforts to conserve and protect the Hall as well as supporting the plethora of artists displaying their works in the County for local residents to admire.

🎉 The first grants have now been awarded through the new QFutures Community Fund!

Delivered in partnership with Quickline, the fund supports community groups across Greater Lincolnshire that are helping people overcome barriers to employment, improve digital inclusion and build stronger, more connected communities.

⭐ One of the successful projects was Jubilee Church, Grantham, which received £1,950 to employ a dedicated digital trainer at its Thursday Café. The funding will enable the church to provide tailored one-to-one support for vulnerable individuals experiencing digital exclusion, helping more people gain the confidence and skills needed to access online services.

Other successful projects included:
🚜 Lincolnshire County Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs – supporting accredited training courses to improve employability and career opportunities for young people in agriculture.

💻 Literkowo Centre of Education CIC – delivering a mobile community employment and digital inclusion programme, helping people in rural communities develop digital skills, build confidence and improve employment prospects.

👁️ Lincoln and Lindsey Blind Society – supporting the Click and Connect outreach initiative, helping people with sight loss become more digitally connected through assistive technology, communication aids and peer support.

These are just a few of the projects receiving support through the first round of the QFutures Community Fund. We look forward to seeing how these projects develop and the positive difference they will make for communities across Greater Lincolnshire.

The next round of funding closes on 1 November, and we look forward to welcoming more applications from organisations making a difference in their communities.

Last week, LCF Grantmaker Katie Littlewood, met with the local panel for the RWE Renewables Humber Gateway Community Fund, to award funding to projects making a difference across North East Lincolnshire.

🎬 One of the successful projects was ARCH (the Bert Boyden Centre, Immingham), which received £2,500 to fund the licences and advertising needed to continue its free monthly community cinema for the next 12 months. The screenings are well attended and have become a real asset to the community, providing access to cinema experiences where there is no local cinema.

Other successful projects included:

🎨 St Mark's Church, Grimsby - supporting its 'Summer of Fun' programme, including the purchase of a bouncy castle, a new toilet for the venue and art supplies for families to enjoy during the events.

⚽ Immingham Town FC CIC - supporting improvements to the club's changing facilities, including commercial non-slip flooring and energy-efficient heating in the shower and toilet areas, as part of wider renovations.

🎪 Abstract Circus CIC - delivering four free family circus workshops across venues in the Grimsby area, covering venue hire, staffing and overhead costs.

These are just a few of the 11 projects receiving support through this funding round.

We look forward to seeing how these, and all the other funded projects, develop over the coming months and the positive impact they will have on communities across North East Lincolnshire.
