Today, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Phil McKenzie as he steps down from his role as a Trustee of the The Russell Anderson Foundation.

Phil has been a passionate advocate and unwavering supporter of the Foundation’s mission over the past five years. His commitment, guidance and generosity of spirit have made a lasting impact on our work, helping us to grow and achieve so much over the years.

He has given his time, expertise and encouragement, always championing the Foundation and the children and young people we support. His contribution has been invaluable and we are incredibly grateful for everything he has done.

While we are sad to see him leave the Board, we know he will remain a valued friend and supporter. We wish him every success and sincerely thank him for the difference he has made, and will continue to make.

Thank you Phil. You will always be part of the Foundation family.

Last Friday was a busy one for The Russell Anderson Foundation, with two fantastic events bringing people together in support of what really matters.

⚽️ 🏉 The Long Kick-Off Lunch at The Marcliffe Hotel, alongside Logan Sports Marketing and My Name'5 Doddie Foundation, was a brilliant opportunity to connect with supporters and celebrate the power of sport in making a difference.

✨ The BB14 Gala Dinner at P&J Live saw us host a table and welcome guests who share our passion for supporting children and communities.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, supported the events and who continue to champion the Foundation.

Behind every event, every conversation and every partnership is something much bigger. The children and young people who get the chance to try something new, build confidence, develop friendships and discover what they’re capable of.

That’s why we do what we do. That’s what brings us together. And that’s what makes every bit of support count.

A big thank you to Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce for being our latest Boot Library recipient. Our CEO, Kim Woolner, was delighted to deliver the box last week and spread the word.

Our Library collects new and nearly-new football boots, AstroTurf trainers and ordinary trainers, which we distribute to children and young people in our partner schools, in some of the most socially disadvantaged areas of Aberdeen.

We are particularly looking for trainers and AstroTurf trainers, plus football boots in children’s and small adult sizes (no metal studs, please!).

Have a pair you no longer need? Your donation could help a child take part, get active and feel included.

5 weeks into the school year already!

The Russell Anderson Development School (RADS) programme has been back up and running across our partner schools, and it’s fantastic to see our coaches settled in and getting stuck into another year of supporting children through sport.

And while the Foundation may have football at its heart, we are much more than that. 🏀🥎🏉 🏃‍♀️

Did you know that our Development School programme is multi-sport? We use different sports and games to improve attainment, attendance and attention, developing a range of skills, discovering what they enjoy and, most importantly, having fun being active.

Behind every session is a great team of coaches who bring energy, enthusiasm and a genuine commitment to helping the children develop confidence, teamwork and positive relationships.

It’s not just about sport, it’s about levelling the playing field, creating opportunities and helping all children thrive, both on and off the sports pitch. The Russell Anderson Foundation

Tuesday was a very special day for The Russell Anderson Foundation, as we gathered at The Chester Hotel to officially receive the King’s Award for Voluntary Service.

It was a privilege to celebrate with our volunteers, staff, trustees and supporters, and to receive the award from the Lord-Lieutenant of Aberdeen, Dr David Cameron, accompanied by his wife and Deputy, William Young.

This award is a wonderful recognition of the commitment, passion and dedication of everyone who gives their time and contribution.

Thank you to our volunteers, staff, supporters and sponsors for believing in what we do and helping us create opportunities for children and young people across Aberdeen.

We are incredibly proud and hugely grateful to everyone who has been on this journey with us.

Sometimes, all it takes is someone believing in you to change the direction of your future.

We are incredibly grateful to WM Donald for their support of our Career Pathways Programme, helping young people from our partner schools in some of Aberdeen’s most socially disadvantaged communities, to see opportunities they may never have considered.

By opening their doors, sharing their experiences and showcasing the careers available, they are helping to plant a seed of possibility.

For many of these young people, it’s the first time they’ve been able to see what a career in construction, engineering or infrastructure could look like and, more importantly, that it’s something they can aspire to.

Our programme is about raising aspirations, breaking down barriers and creating genuine opportunities. It’s about helping young people recognise their potential and giving them the confidence to pursue it.

A huge thank you to Rachel O’Donnell and Ally Smith Together, we are helping to inspire the next generation and create brighter futures.
