Top tips for feeding in the current weather;

Breastfed babies (0–6 months) ✓No extra water needed for exclusive breastfed baby - Giving water can reduce calorie intake and affect growth ✓Babies may feed more frequently to keep themselves hydrate

Formula-fed babies (0-6 months) ✓Offer a few sips of cooled boiled water between feed. If baby wakes at night, offer more milk. ✓For combi-fed babies: breastfeed more often instead of offering water in hot weather

Babies 6–12 months ✓Offer small amounts of water from an open cup or beaker at mealtimes ✓Water should be the only drink — avoid juices, herbal teas ✓Tap water can be given

Are you passionate about supporting families through challenging times? Do you have the empathy, creativity, and drive to help people build confidence, resilience and brighter futures?

We’re looking for Community Resilience Workers (Outreach) to join the Children and Family Wellbeing Service and support families in our Family Hubs and in the community, a role where every day brings the chance to make a meaningful, lasting impact.

This is more than a job, it’s an opportunity to become a trusted support for families navigating financial pressure, housing challenges, emotional stress and life transitions.

Working flexibly across Lancashire's Family Hubs, community venues, and through outreach, you’ll connect with families who may not otherwise access support, helping them stabilise, grow and thrive.

This is a full time, fixed term position until 31/03/2029.

Closing Date: 05/07/2026, 23:55

Child Accident Prevention Trust

Self-feeding pillows can be deadly. That’s because the baby can’t push the bottle away, so can choke or suffer aspiration pneumonia.

Your baby needs you with them while they are feeding, so you can react if they start gagging or choking.

An urgent safety alert was issued for baby self-feeding pillows in 2022. But you can still buy them online.

Please avoid using anything that encourages you to leave your baby alone to feed with a propped-up bottle. And warn family and friends too.

And for tips on feeding multiples safely visit Twins Trust: https://twinstrust.org/.../feeding-more-than-two-babies.html Alternatively, your health visitor or midwife may be able to offer advice on different feeding strategies.
