Great new service started across the rural communities 👇

🥳We’re very excited to launch our new page for the Village Agent Service in rural Lancashire!

🌳Our Village Agents offer free, confidential, and friendly early support to adults in rural communities. Each agent is local to the area they cover, so they understand the villages, services, and challenges that matter most to residents.

🫂This might mean linking someone with local activities, community groups, or practical help already available nearby.

📨If you’re interested in the service for yourself or someone else, send us a message anytime and we’ll put you in touch with your local Village Agent!

🤗Give us a follow and stay tuned for further updates on what we get up to in the community. Or check out our website to find out more about what we do and who your local Village Agent is - https://communityfutures.org.uk/index.php/village-agents-service/

Here's a lovely little story about how our Advisers can go above and beyond for clients. It is so heartwarming, we just had to share ❤❤

I attended a home visit yesterday in West Lancs, and assisted the lady with completing an Attendance Allowance form. This lady is in her 80's she is house bound, can only literally move from the bed to the commode and to a chair in her room. She has care staff come to give her food and medication 2 times a day, she doesnt see anybody as she has never married and has no children.

After completing her AA form I suggested I would post it for her, as I normally do with people who are housebound or struggle with mobiluty, as I was getting ready to pack up and do this, in our conversations that I usually have with clients, I asked her is anyone visiting over Christmas on Christmas Day and are the staff working Christmas Day? At this point the lady stared crying and become very upset, so I sat down with her to chat some more to make sure she was okay before I left.

In the afternoon at the outreach at the Hub in Upholland St Thomas the Martyr, I noticed they have a new project whereby they would deliver a cooked meal and present on Christmas Eve. I called the lady back up, and arranged this for her, she was so happy and thankful. The church will deliver a meal and present on Christmas Eve and the care staff will warm up her meal for her on the Christmas Day.

AdviceUK - Proud to be a member, helping people get the right Welfare Rights, Debt Advice and Employment Support Advice they need and ensuring that people receive the support, opportunities, and representation they deserve.

is here!

And we are kicking it off with the launch of , a landmark report cautioning that staff shortages threaten to undermine the free and independent advice sector.

With the cost-of-living crisis and the current strain on the welfare system, advice services are the first line of support for many, but services struggle to meet the skyrocketing demand on a diverse range of issues, including welfare benefits, debt, housing, immigration, and health.

Based on the experiences of AdviceUK members and a literature review, the report paints a deeply concerning picture of an advice sector that is at a breaking point.

👉 Despite the drastic increase in individuals and families seeking free and independent advice, almost all organisations (88%) report major recruitment and retention difficulties, with the average advice service needing three more advisers to meet demand, while losing three staff or volunteers in the past year.

“Our report offers a practical and targeted solution. We are calling for National Advice Workforce strategies in England, Scotland, and Wales, bringing governments and the sector together to co-design solutions – just as is done in health, education, and childcare. It is time for governments to recognise advice as a key partner in public service delivery and show leadership in ensuring people are attracted to and stay in the advice workforce.” Liz Bayram, Chief Executive of AdviceUK.

AdviceUK will write to the relevant ministers in the UK, Scottish, and Welsh governments to share the report’s recommendations for tackling the workforce crisis and securing the future of these vital organisations.
