Lincolnshire Anti-racism Groups Condemn Far Right for Using Violence Against Women to Spread Hate
Lincolnshire, UK, 6 May 2026 — Lincolnshire Women Against the Far Right (WAFR) and Stand up to Racism (SUTR) stand with all survivors of Violence against Women and Girls. The far right is using women's safety as a weapon to spread racism and division. They are not defenders of women—they exploit violence against women and children to push hate.
These groups mobilise aggressive and violent protests outside hotels housing refugees, where women and children represent over 20% of all individuals staying there. Many of these women are survivors of sexual violence, abuse, and persecution, having fled their home countries in search of safety.
Far-right attacks on asylum hotels are not about ‘protecting Britain’—they are acts that directly endanger women and children. We know this personally, because the far right have threatened women in our group with violence for speaking out about this.
Recent far-right protests in Skegness have involved attendees holding placards with racial slurs on them, beating at the door of a refugee hotel, and indiscriminate harassment of other hotels in the town that they suspect to be housing refugees. As these groups often also target incorrect locations, their actions affect local communities causing more fear, unrest and hate.
We believe in a society where all women are safe, supported, and free from abuse — regardless of their background or where they come from. Standing up for women’s rights means rejecting racism and division and building unity to demand real action to end violence against women and girls.
Lincolnshire Women Against the Far Right will be peacefully counter protesting Unite the Right on the 9th May 2026, at The County Hotel, Skegness.
Together we can stand with all survivors and victims of abuse by uniting against the far right and challenging racist narratives that spread misinformation. Join us and demonstrate that we stand with all survivors and oppose racism and hate.
