BLCF is saddened and shocked to hear the news of the tragic rail accident that occurred on Friday 19th June. Our thoughts are with all those who were injured and affected by this incident.

We would also like to recognise and thank the emergency services who have worked tirelessly to respond the situation and care for those who have been injured.

During these times of tragedy, we often see how our communities rally together to support one another and this weekend is no exception. The people of Bedfordshire continue to show their willingess to help others and rally together for the common good.

At BLCF, we are working to understand how we can best support the community and those affected.

❗𝗔𝗻 𝘂𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗖𝗥𝗠 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺❗

We are currently in the process of transitioning to our new CRM system. This system will see a change in how people apply for grants, with applicants needing to register to a new grantseeker portal. This will allow us to streamline our processes and ensure you can see the progress of your application in real time.

We will be taking a phased approach in implementing this new system. Some grant programmes may close for a period of time while this transition takes place.

The BLCF team will ensure to keep you updated on any closures and provide all relevant information on how to sign up to our grantseeker portal when necessary.

𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗔-𝗭 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴!

Today we have I for INSIGHT.

Since 2017, INSIGHT has acted as a forum for small charities to build partnerships, network and enable peer support, as well as access free training and workshops.

BLCF works with a number of key support organisations to deliver quality workshops and sessions to various not-for-profit groups. Each session focuses on a certain topic, with past workshops concentrating on social media and building a digital marketing plan (Google Digital), fundraising, Small Charities Coalition, volunteers (how to recruit and retain), applying for funding (Arts Council), financial management, and impact and evaluation.

BLCF uses these sessions to learn more about small charities and the issues they face so we can appropriately respond. We aim to provide sessions that we hear small charities need, so that we can ensure our help is targeted and valuable.

BLCF is currently recruiting for an experienced Head of Grants to lead our expanding grants team and join our Senior Leadership Team to steer the future direction of the Foundation.

Applicants will need to have significant previous and relevant experience in a grants management role, and possess excellent leadership, team and programme management skills. Excellent communication and IT skills are also essential.

⏪ 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀! ⏪

Following 2013, the foundation was incredibly fortunate to secure further funding from London Luton Airport to start the Community Trust Fund.

Our fund offerings also expanded with Big Local, the School Uniform Fund and the LuDun fund.

Funds such as these helped the organisation grow and support our local communities, and have continued to have impact to this day.

⭐ 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱? ⭐

Grants of up to £10,000 are available and will only be considered for charitable organisations delivering work in Central Bedfordshire, Dacorum, Eastern parts of Aylesbury District (Great Brickhill, Wing, Wingrave, Cheddington, Edlesborough and Pitstone), Luton, North Herts District, St. Albans District, and Stevenage.

The main objectives (summarised) for this fund are:
- Healthy Today (mental / physical health and wellbeing).
- Skilled Tomorrow (upskilling young people up to the age of 30).
- Alleviating Poverty (supporting people to support themselves).

For the ‘Skilled Tomorrow’ priority, and in recognition of the National Year of Reading, we particularly welcome applications with a focus on literacy.

𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟱 🎉

In May 2001, Geoffrey Farr MBE DL alongside Sir Samuel Whitbread KVCO and Bishop John of Bedford were successful in founding BLCF with the Charities Commission.

Now, as May 2026 comes to end, we can officially say BLCF is 25 years old.

During our 25th Anniversary film, Jaspal sat down with Geoffrey Farr to learn about BLCF's past. It's safe to say that Jaspal learnt more than just this, coming away with an appreciation for the lasting impact of Geoffrey's actions in 2001. Throughout this documentary, Jaspal was able to witness firsthand the effect of the establishment of BLCF in the community. To this day, because of Geoffrey, charities are able to access funding to help keep them going.

"It's by far the best thing I've done in my life," says Geoffrey on forming BLCF. We hope that the work we do today continues to honour his objectives and we strive to further deliver lasting change in the community.
