This week the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is looking for people who have had a hip and/or knee replacement to let them know their views and experiences via a new survey.

The focus of the survey is using (or potentially using) online platforms to support rehabilitation, before and after hip and/or knee replacement.

The results will inform the NICE committee, of the patient experience and viewpoint, when making recommendations on digital platforms to support rehabilitation before and after primary elective hip or knee replacement surgery.

The public consultation on the future of Mount Vernon Cancer Centre is now open and runs until 29 March 2026.

The first in-person event will be held on:

Tuesday 10 February 2026, at the Rufus Centre Flitwick from 10.30am – 12noon.

👉 You can book your place here - https://lnkd.in/e9Ss-3Mf

The main proposal is to relocate the cancer centre to a new, purpose-built facility next to Watford General Hospital.

The new centre would bring modern, specialist services together on one site, with access to the full range of medical and surgical care needed for high quality cancer treatment.
It would continue to support patients across Hertfordshire, north west London, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and east Berkshire.

The proposals also include:

👉 More chemotherapy, diagnostics and follow up care in local hospitals
👉 Increased chemotherapy at home
👉 Reduced travel for routine appointments

A key part of the consultation is the option for a second radiotherapy unit at either:

👉 Luton and Dunstable Hospital, or
👉 Lister Hospital, Stevenage

This would be in addition to radiotherapy at the new main centre and would improve access for people living in the north of the current Mount Vernon catchment area.
