💜 This Learning Disability Week, we're supporting the national theme "Do You See Me?" – a reminder that people with a learning disability should be seen, heard, valued and included in every part of community life.

At Healthwatch Central Bedfordshire, our Learning Disability Community Partnership Group brings together people with lived experience, carers, professionals and organisations to help shape local health and social care services.

Real change happens when people are listened to and involved in decisions that affect their lives.
Together, we're creating opportunities for voices to be heard and experiences to drive improvement.

This September, we're bringing together carers, local organisations and services to continue the conversation about what carers need to thrive in Central Bedfordshire.

💙 National Carers Week shines a spotlight on the vital contribution of unpaid carers, but meaningful change requires ongoing engagement throughout the year.

Our September Carers Community Partnership Group provides an opportunity for Carers, voluntary organisations, healthcare providers and local partners to continue these important discussions and help shape more carer-friendly communities in Central Bedfordshire.

By sharing lived experience and local insight, participants can help influence services and support that better meet Carers' needs.

The responses from the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre public consultation are currently being analysed. However, it has been noted that travel and access were the most frequently raised issues.

As a result, further work is being undertaken to explore these challenges in more depth and to identify what could be done to improve access to specialist cancer treatment, both now and in the future.
