🧠 Trauma can have a powerful and lasting impact on mental health.

When we experience trauma—whether from abuse, loss, violence, neglect, or sudden change—it can leave emotional wounds that affect how we think, feel, and behave.

At Many Hands we aim to help you tackle these issues caused by trauma by exploring and understanding how our traumas have affected us, and finding ways to overcome these.

Trauma can have impacts on our cognitive abilities, like:
-Memory loss
-Confusion
-Racing thoughts
-Hypervigilance
-Attention issues
-Block in communication
-Catastrophizing
-Trouble with decision making
-Issues with processing information
-Depression
-Trouble with problem solving
-Trouble learning

It can also affect our existence in a more fundamental manner, including:
-Self-loathing
-Loss of hope
-Loss of meaning
-Pessimism
-Helplessness
-No sense of purpose
-Death ideation
-Sense of dread
-Identity fragmentation
-Isolation and loneliness

Trauma can cause us to have short and long lasting emotional issues, such as:
-Emotional flashbacks
-Mood swings
-Low motivation
-Betrayal sensitivity
-Feelings of anger, guilt or shame
-Feeling detached from reality
-Emotional dysregulation
-Dissociation
-Reckless behaviour
-Sleep disturbances
-Numbness
-Avoidance
-Negative beliefs
-Shattered world view

Trauma also can cause us to have physical issues, including:
-Low energy
-Chronic pain
-Balance and co-ordination issues
-Stomach ache
-Trouble with sleeping
-Chronic pain
-Muscle tension and stiffness
-Headaches
-Easily startled
-Fatigue and tiredness
-Digestive issues
-Changes in eating
-Dizziness
-Nausea

If you are facing any of these issues from trauma, stress, overwhelming anxiety or a loss in your life, we may be able to help you.

Please contact us today to see if we can help you, either through messaging us or emailing us at [email protected]

What's happening tomorrow at CobbyCrafters?

Tomorrow is the medium of painting!

Come along and make a watercolour bookmark, or a painted glass pot, or a wooden slice.

These are not taught workshops, but rather an opportunity for you to come and explore and enjoy playing around with some new materials, or trying a new skill.

Tomorrow! 10.30 - 12.30

Free creativity sessions for over 60s, held at Silsden Town Hall. Come along and explore the medium of paints.

Fancy having a go at a painted glass pot? Or a watercolour painted bookmark?

Here's some feedback from previous creativity sessions and why people have enjoyed them.

- “I enjoy it because it’s all about expression and not about getting it right”

- “It takes me away from the monotony of everyday life“

- “It lets me focus on something that is important to me“

- “I am really enjoying the creativity, the therapy I’ve found in doing it is amazing”
