Breast forms and prostheses. What are the options after breast cancer? 💗

We’ve got a really quick and easy explainer to share with you created by the wonderful Sam Jackman, the founder of .

Every day, more women find themselves navigating the choices available following breast cancer surgery, while others, even years after their surgery, may still be unaware of the different options available to them. It’s something we don’t see or talk about enough, yet finding the right breast form or prosthesis can make a real difference to comfort, confidence and how a bra fits.

In this helpful video, Sam takes us through a whistle stop tour of some of the different options available, from lightweight softies and traditional silicone prostheses and to Boost’s innovative, lightweight breast forms.

Sam explains how they work, how they’re worn and why having different options matters.

Congratulations to Emma Raw from The BRAologist!

We’re delighted to welcome Emma as one of our newest graduates of the Better Bras After Breast Cancer Specialist Bra Fitting Training.

Emma has successfully completed her training and is now a Certified Specialist Bra Fitter, equipped with the knowledge and skills to support women with their bra fitting needs during and after breast cancer.

It’s wonderful to see more independent lingerie specialists investing in this important area of bra fitting and helping us make a real difference to women when they need it most. 💕

A huge congratulations to Emma, and we wish her every success as she continues to grow The BRAologist!

Sometimes the world is unfair to the point where you have to shout it out and do something about it.

That’s how The Better Bras after breast cancer campaign started.

Campaign founder, Helen, was a guest on the Asi Efros Intimate Talks podcast recently where she was asked where the campaign came from. Here, she explains to host Asi Efros how the campaign was inspired by the work she does running a global business consultancy helping businesses in the lingerie industry to excel.

She saw how many women after breast cancer felt left out of the lingerie world and were missing the crucial wow feeling that a good Bra can give. So she set about to change it.

Two years ago this month, the Campaign for Better Bras After Breast Cancer began.

It started with something we kept seeing and hearing. Women who had already been through breast cancer diagnosis, surgery and treatment were then facing another challenge: finding a bra that worked for their changed body, and finding someone with the specialist knowledge to help them.

A woman may be dealing with scars, sensitivity, reconstruction, asymmetry, lymphoedema, prostheses or simply a body that no longer feels quite the same. Finding a comfortable, supportive bra shouldn’t make that journey harder.

So in October 2024 we launched Better Bras After Breast Cancer, with one simple mission: to give more women access to better bras and better bra fitting advice after breast cancer.

Since then, that mission has grown into specialist training with Cancer Research UK for bra fitters, free advice and resources via our social channels, an increasing number of supporting brands and most importantly, a growing community of people who want things to be better.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month feels like the right time not only to mark how far the campaign has come, but to remind ourselves why it exists.

Because every woman affected by breast cancer deserves choice, comfort, confidence and access to someone who understands her needs.

Two years down. There is still plenty more to do. 💗

October marks the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we wanted to begin by sharing the first part of a very important conversation with Sarah, one of our Better Bras After Breast Cancer ambassadors.

Sarah was diagnosed with stage 3, grade 3 triple negative breast cancer in 2023 after finding a lump while on holiday.

What makes her story particularly important is that her mammogram was initially clear.

Sarah later discovered that she had very dense breast tissue, and her cancer was subsequently identified following further investigation. It is an experience that has left her passionate about encouraging women to understand their own breast density and to be aware of the questions they may need to ask about their breast health.

In this first part of our interview, Sarah talks openly about her diagnosis, the shock of receiving the news and why breast density has become something she is determined to raise awareness of.

This is only the beginning of Sarah’s conversation with Helen, and we’ll be sharing more of her experiences, advice and reflections over the coming weeks.

A big congratulations to Melissa, Sarah and Sheryl from Lissie Lingerie in Scotland, who joined Helen at Cancer Research UK HQ last week to complete their Better Bras After Breast Cancer training. 🎓💗

They are now part of our growing network of specially trained bra fitters helping women access better fitting advice and a wider choice of bras during and after breast cancer.

The Better Bras After Breast Cancer training goes far beyond standard bra fitting, covering the different needs women may have following mastectomy, lumpectomy and reconstruction, as well as prosthesis fitting, specialist products and, importantly, how to offer knowledgeable and sensitive support at what can be a very difficult time.

Trainees also receive practical business advice , recommendations on the ideal product range , supplier offers, the chance to fit with bras, they may not have used before and the chance to hear it exactly as it is from our models , all of whom have gone through breast cancer.

By completing the programme, Melissa, Sarah and Sheryl are joining the wider community and helping us take another step towards our goal of making expert post breast cancer bra fitting support more accessible across the UK.

We’re delighted to welcome LISSIE LINGERIE | Fife Bra Fitting Shop to the campaign and to see that support growing in Scotland too. 💕
