This summer we got to visit our project in Malawi. It was great to meet the whole team and see the impact on the 70 schools we're working in. Here's a quick summary of what we got up to!

Nasser, the Senior Programmes Officer at our partners SignHealth Uganda, set up The Silent Cafe, a cafe owned and run by Deaf people.

Growing up Deaf, Nasser knew how hard it was for Deaf young people to find employment, and set up the cafe to employ others like him. He now employs three Deaf young people.

Roy (pictured) is Deaf has been involved in our projects growing up and now works part-time at the cafe as well as practicing his directing and drama work on the side.

The team have arrived in Malawi!

We are out here visiting our partners and seeing the project in action.

We have visited two schools today and been hearing from headmasters, teachers, parents and learners about how the project is making a difference to them 🌍

Introducing our new Chair of Trustees Rodney Clark OBE 👋

Rodney was a founding board member of Signal when it was established in 2013. He was also the CEO of the charity Sense for 20 years which, under his leadership, became the largest Deafblind organisation in the world.

We are thrilled to welcome Rodney back to Signal!

An update on Signal 📣

After our main project in the UK ended last year, and after much consideration, we have decided to cease our UK work and focus on our international work in sub-Saharan Africa.

We believe this is where our efforts and energy are best placed moving forward and where we can have the greatest impact.

We are excited for this next chapter at Signal and would like to thank you for your continued support.
