An important update from Shropshire Epilepsy Support!
It is with great sadness that we announce that the trustees of Shropshire Epilepsy Support have made the difficult decision to begin the process of closing the charity.
For the past eight years, we have been proud to support people affected by epilepsy, together with their families & carers, across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin. We have worked hard to provide support, information, social oppertunities & greater awareness & understanding of epilepsy within our community.
Unfortunately, despite our continued efforts, we have been unable to recruit enough volunteers & trustees to keep the charity operating safely & effectively. With only the minimum number of trustees remaining & no Treasurer, we do not feel that continuing in our present form would be responsible or sustainable.
The charity has not yet formally closed. We are now working carefully through the required closure process & will ensure that all remaining funds & responsabilities are dealt with properly, in accordance with our constitution & Charity Commission requirements. Any remaing charitable funds will continue to be used to support appropriate epilepsy- related purposes.
We will provide futher updates as the process progresses & we will very soon put a post out of where else you can find support & even the prospect of new epilepsy support ventures in the area. In the meantime please bear with us if responses take longer than usual.
We would like to thank everyone who has supported Shropshire Epilepsy Support over the years- our members, volunteers, trustees, fundraisers, donors, local organisations & everyone who has attended or supported our activities. Your kindness & encouragement have helped us make a real difference to people affected by epilepsy.
Although this is an incredibly sad decision, we remain very proud of everything the charity & its community have achieved over the past eight years.
