Yesterday, a group of Baschurch WI members and friends visited Cruckfield House gardens near Ford, open by arrangement to groups for the National Garden Scheme. We were made very welcome by the owner Mr Geoff Cobley who talked about the development of the garden over 48 years and the more recent impact of hot and dry weather. Although it threatened rain yesterday, it held off and we were able to enjoy the variety of this beautiful garden at leisure. Specimen trees and shrubs, beds full of peony and rose varieties in full bloom, tinkling fountains in the courtyard garden, alliums and box hedges and the lake, shady bog garden and wild flower areas. Sculptures and seating dotted through added to it's charm. A very pleasant afternoon and well worth a visit.

A group of us joined the Shropshire Federation Spring ramble held at Much Wenlock yesterday. It was a perfect sun filled spring morning as we climbed through shady woods with the smell of wild garlic in the air, bluebells and violets at our feet. At the top we were rewarded with the wide reaching views from the Edge. The refreshments at the end were superb. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard in organising an excellent event.

Another very enjoyable SFWI WI day today with a real buzz in the Abbey. So many fantastic competition entries - what interesting and varied displays from across Shropshire - and we are also very proud of our own talented WI show team. We are pleased to share that we held another successful sales table with a big thank you to everyone who made or contributed the items that helped to create our splendid display. To those hardy souls who gave up their time today either to work on or to visit the stall - thank you so much - and particularly to Alison and Chris who both set the stall up and were there to the not so bitter end. Finally - if you bought something from us today - the biggest thanks of all 🙂
