💥Smash Life💥
Yesterday as part of foster carer fortnight we were asked to deliver to the lovely foster carers in Telford & Wrekin Council
The training we delivered was called “How positive diversions can save a life”
We loved designing & delivering this because guess what - They have SAVED our life - they have been the one constant and community in our life and we know the power being part of something, investing in a hobby can bring.
During the interactive day we were able to help foster carers understand how positive diversions can protect, support and improve outcomes for children in care by reducing vulnerability, removing isolation, building resilience and increasing emotional wellbeing.
BUT it’s not just a case of introducing a hobby to a child and expecting them to “get on with it” - everyone needs to understand that with participation comes relationships, connections, triggers, risks, different approaches and when understanding a child’s journey it’s important to be able to adapt and help them with the transition into a hobby, positive diversion or new community
We were able to look at case studies, community map, look at risk and protective factors, explore positive diversions through a trauma informed lens and share ideas and best practice - “raising each other”
It was particularly lovely as our service supports many children in Telford so to connect, converse and inspire foster carers ensures “everyone is working together”
Play, positive diversions and community will always be a huge part of what we do - we loved delivering this course - for more information please email [email protected]
Thanks everyone for your lovely feedback
