Sometimes, the hardest moments for children are the ones where what they believed suddenly changes π
In this part of The Magical Secret of The Crystal Kingdom, Rose is searching for answers and instead finds something completely unexpected. She thinks she understands the story, only to discover that things are not as they seemed at all. In that moment, there is shock, confusion and the unsettling feeling of not knowing what to trust anymore.
That is such a powerful reflection of how children can feel in real life too β¨ Sometimes they uncover something surprising, hear something that changes how they see a situation, or realise that an adult has not been fully honest. Even when the truth matters, those moments can still feel confusing and emotionally heavy for a child to process.
This is why emotional safety matters so much. Children need space to ask questions, express uncertainty and work through unexpected feelings without being rushed or dismissed. Confusion does not mean they are overreacting. It often means they are trying to make sense of something important π
Throughout The Magical Secret of The Crystal Kingdom, there are so many reminders that childrenβs feelings are real, even when the answers are complicated. And sometimes, one of the most supportive things we can do is simply recognise that a child may need time, reassurance and honesty as they piece things together.
Because when the truth shifts, children do not just need answers. They also need support in making sense of what those answers mean π€
