Parent and Child pottery returns to Hive.

Come along and get creative together in these fun, hands-on pottery sessions for children and
adults, inspired by Autumn and Halloween. Make, decorate and personalise your own pottery
creations to take home.

Join us for a two-session pottery course designed for one child and one accompanying
adult. Over two Sunday mornings, you'll have the chance to get creative with clay, explore
pottery techniques and each make something special together.
No previous pottery experience is needed – just bring your imagination and get ready to have
fun!

Note: Please make sure you are able to attend both sessions.

Each ticket is for 1 child and 1 accompanying adult.

Parchment Art - 30th September

Join us for this relaxing crafting afternoon session.

During the session you will learn the basics of parchment craft using the Groovi system.
Open to all, all you need to do is to be able to hold a pen. It is a lot easier than it looks. You will be amazed by the outcome that you will create within the session.

You will be able to take home your creations – which may be a card, coaster or both depending on time.

Go to the website for more details.

Upcycling: Woven again - 30th September

Join us for this new one day taster session here at Hive.

Give your old materials a new life in this Upcycling taster session. This one day taster will involve two activities, you can either complete one or both of them.

Upcycled Hair Scrunchie Workshop

The first activity would be making hair scrunchies using recyclable and unwanted textiles, such as old linen and cotton pillowcases, tablecloths, shirts, or other suitable fabric that might otherwise be thrown away.

Participants would learn how to transform these materials into a finished scrunchie, giving you the opportunity to develop a new practical skill. Depending on your confidence and experience, you could either sew the scrunchie using a sewing machine or learn how to hand-stitch it.

The finished scrunchie could be made for yourselves, or as a thoughtful handmade gift for a friend, wife, daughter, granddaughter, or another family member.

Upcycling & Customising Old Jeans Workshop

Participants could learn how to give an old pair of jeans a new lease of life by adding diamantes, embroidery, decorative trimmings, patches, or making small alterations and adjustments.

This would allow you to be creative and develop skills while producing something unique and personal.

Go to the website for more details.

On the 9th September, Hive is hosting a Digital Skills enrolment/assessment day run by Shipley College. It will run from 9am.

This assessment is open to all who think they would like to brush up on their Digital/IT skills. The assessment will lead to a course in the coming months.

Details of the assessment day are below:

The enrolment session is straightforward and designed to get learners set up for success. Please could you bring the following:

• Proof of ID (e.g., Passport, Driving License, or Birth Certificate)
• Proof of Address (e.g., a recent utility bill or bank statement)
• Proof of Universal Credit (if they are currently in receipt of UC)

The Enrolment Process:

1. Paperwork: Learners will fill out their standard enrolment forms.
2. Initial Assessment: They will complete a quick Initial Assessment for IT / Digital Skills. This simply helps us identify where their current knowledge is and what specific areas they want to improve.

Course Overview:

• Step 1: Tailored Learning (The Basics)
o What it is: A gentle introduction covering the absolute basics of using a computer and getting to grips with different programs.

• Step 2: Entry Level 3 (E3) Accredited Course
o What it is: Learners move onto an official qualification containing two key units: IT Fundamentals and Using the Internet. This is brilliant for building real-world confidence.

• Step 3: Level 1 (L1) Course
o What it is: Once they've nailed the basics, learners can progress to a Level 1 course in a subject of their choice (such as advanced Digital Skills) to further boost their independence or employability.

Traveller's Tale - Weekend workshop

Brand new courses at Hive.

Last chance to get a place, grab yours now!

You can choose to attend the whole weekend (book both Saturday and Sunday) or just book a single day. Naturally, doing both days gives you more time to explore techniques and get deeper into your project, but each day also stands alone as a full, enjoyable workshop with plenty to learn and make.

Spend this day creating your own set of beautifully crafted leather travel essentials in this journey inspired workshop. Guided through each stage, you’ll hand make a passport case, a luggage label, and a versatile traveller’s bag—perfect companions for journeys near or far.

Along the way, you’ll learn a range of traditional leatherworking skills, including pattern cutting, hand stitching, edge finishing, and simple construction techniques. Suitable for beginners and those with some experience, the workshop offers a relaxed, supportive environment to build confidence and craftsmanship.

By the end of it, you’ll leave with some practical, timeless pieces—each one made by hand and ready to travel with you for years to come.

There are links below for the Saturday and Sunday workshops. You can book just one, or both. If you just book one, you will still come away with something from the workshop.

Hive Potters

Hive is taking a short summer break from Pottery Drop In to allow us to review processes, systems and improve the flow of the studio.

We will be closed for Pottery Drop from 3rd August and re-opening on the 1st September. This includes Saturday Club.

We will hold a Pottery consultation during this time and will be in touch to get your opinions on the Pottery provision.

Have a lovely summer!
