Our volunteers made a visit to the Active Travel Planters on Bradford Road to give them some much welcomed water. The sunflowers are holding up well, and the perennials are hanging on in there. 🌻

Fantastic effort by our three volunteers on Sunday with the Reading Tree bench now complete! 📖🌳
It's looking bright and cheerful, and already generating lots of lovely comments from passers-by. 🥰

Our next volunteer session is this Sunday, 10am-12pm, when we'll be finishing the painting of the reading tree, amongst other activities.

If you have spare few hours and would like to join us for a fun, fulfilling and productive morning, we'd love you to join us. All materials provided.

Date for the Diary for September's Shipley in Bloom volunteer session when we'll be meeting at Shipley Baptist Church Garden on the 26th September, 10am-12pm.

Everybody is welcome, all ages and no experience or equipment needed.

Several of the Shipley in Bloom volunteer group have recently taken a trip to see the Hall Cliffe Community Garden in Baildon.

Despite the challenging weather conditions, some flowers are still putting on a show, and the lavender was alive with bees and tiny butterflies. Plus Helen spotted a hummingbird hawk month - the first one they have seen in the UK!

Our next Sunday volunteer session is on 16th August.
Come along and help us tidy and paint the Reading Tree seating area.
All welcome and all paint and equipment provided.

A productive day for our volunteers down at the allotment at the weekend, clearing thistles etc in advance of the groundworks that will start soon.

The very hot compost bins were checked and replenished - it's magical seeing the different levels of matter breaking down in each of them!

We also planted some more cucumbers - they are coming on very nicely! 🥒

Can you spare a few hours on Sunday to help us complete the town centre reading bench?

Great progress has been made by our volunteers but another coat is needed.
We have all the materials, just need a few extra hands to help complete the project.

Come along at 10am, we'll be meeting at the top of Well Croft.

Shipley welcomed the Yorkshire in Bloom judges last week and we packed lots in showcasing the outcomes of landscaping and many volunteer activities around town. The sun shone, plants, wildlife, birds and insects put on a wonderful show and passionate conversations were held with those involved. We won't know what level we've been awarded until September, but in the meantime we'll keep our fingers crossed and keep joining together to make Shipley bloom!
