Dorset Lavender Farm Project Work placements and volunteering opportunities are offered to individuals or groups. We are developing distilling the lavender to use in new products.

Provider of work and volunteer placements in a peaceful, rural, outdoor environment.Work experience offered to young people and adults with learning difficulties or mental health issues involving them in the running of the farm. Students from the local Yewstock and Forum Schools have had sessions at the farm, the former having made many of our wooden tables and benches. We grow a range of varieties of lavender from seed and plugplants, plus there will be rows in the field for harvesting in Summertime. We have growing partnerships with other groups locally, such as Stour Connect Day Centre who look after some of our our young plants. We also offer art and craft sessions and produce a wide range of items using harvested lavender.

Dear Friends, Family and Supporters,

After the baking hot Summer we've just had, now is the time to harvest the lovely lavender blooms, and prune your plants ready for the Autumn.

We invite you to join us this Sunday for our annual Harvest event, 11-5, at Holloway Farm, with all the usual plants available to buy,
lavender bags made, flowers, fruit and veg. Also teas and cakes will be homemade again, hopefully your favourite recipes!

Looking forward to catching up with you all, and aiming for a warm,
sunny day!

Cheers

Dear friends, family and supporters of the Project,

Yet again you are cordially invited to join us at our Harvest Open Day this Sunday, 1st of September, from 11am til 5pm.

We have enjoyed the improving weather this year, made good progress with new driveways and the polebarn, and created new flower borders around the site. The Polebarn is such a useful space for gathering folk and catching up on all our successes this year, also drying off the blooms for harvesting the lavender grains.....if you are cutting back your flowers do bring along the spent blooms on Harvest Open Day, so we can gather the seed and convert the grains into lavender bags.

The forecast is looking good, so do pass on the invitation to your friends and colleagues!

Cheers

Jo and Team DLFP

One of the ways we stay informed about the voluntary sector in is through regular visits to the groups we fund.
We had a wonderful time with the good folk at the Dorset Lavender Farm Project at Shillingstone to hear about their challenges while working the dozens of volunteers they provide opportunities for.
Our £4k Wessex Water Environment Fund grant helped make the site accessible for people with disabilities.
