The Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway Society is the supporting charity of (and major shareholder in) the North Norfolk Railway, which operates a 5¼ mile heritage railway from Sheringham to Holt. As part of an ongoing review of relations between the North Norfolk Railway and M&GN Society, this Social Media account will be de-activated at the end of the month.

For key updates on our locomotives and activities, please continue to view www.mandgn.org, www.nnrailway.co.uk or North Norfolk Railway PLC; Chris' excellent carriage blog is unaffected. Further changes to make things better for all will be announced in due course.

To discuss issues with your membership please continue to contact the team in the usual ways, most regularly members[at]mandgn.org or using the membership mobile number given in Joint Line but not reposted here.

Thank you for your continued support of the Society over the years;

There has been some confusion about the upcoming weekend (Sat 4th and Sunday 5th October). It is Members and Shareholders weekend on the North Norfolk Railway.

It is advertised as a Heritage Train Trio weekend on the NNR website to encourage non-members to attend the event and understand it is not exclusive.

For members, your free travel ticket can be obtained on production of a valid membership card at any NNR booking office. It will also entitle you to join regular tours of the Weybourne shed complex, and gain a complimentary hot drink at Weybourne.

Subject to availability, 90775 will be operating in a set of Mark 1 coaches including the Gresley Buffet, D5631 on the quads with shuttles on the western end of the line operated by Wissington and the vintage set, including the picnic saloon that has recently been re-released into traffic.

The trustees of the Society look forward to seeing you over the weekend.

A look back along memory lane; Here are 17 photographs, by an unknown photographer, showing a footplate trip along the NNR in the mid 1990's from the footplate of No. 2107 (100) Harlaxton. The locomotive was painted in a recreation of M&GN Golden Ochre for celebrations to commemorate the centenary of the railway in 1893. It now lives as a Thomas replica in Scotland. Photographs copyright to the Society. It is fascinating to see how the railway has grown and developed since this time.
