This is the beautiful banner created in 2000 for the Trent Valley group of WIs in Nottinghamshire. We’re Shelford- our church, and the RiverTrent featured.
Liz, who brought the banner to our meeting, intended taking a photo of us in front of it, but cake and chat intervened!!

Two very interesting meetings, not just listening to a speaker but taking part.

January: AGM. Yawn yawn . . . actually not, as president Elaine rattled through the essentials without contravening any WI rules. Then there were refreshments, then Liz B pounced. In an efficient, ex-teacherly manner she had us in two lines facing each other in the blink of an eye. The activity? We ( ie the pair facing each other) were given one minute each to speak on a theme of Liz’s choice, then swap. After two minutes one line moved one chair to the right, thus facing a different person.

One minute is NOT ENOUGH to talk about Things that Really Anooy You!!

February: Exercise. The benefits of. Equipment. And finally . . . Stretch and Tone. Sit, stand or just watch. Brilliant.

Next month: Hedgehog Highways.

Don’t say WI is just cooking, sewing or singing . . .

What an amazing AGM! (and how many WI members could say that!?)

It wasn’t the case business meeting- it was the activity afterwards. We sat in two rows facing each other. Secretary Liz had a list of topics and we had one minute each to discuss the topic with our opposite number. One row then moved so everyone had a new discussion partner.
Topics included:

*luxury item for a desert island
*favourite flower
*mothers
*things that annoy you
*thank yous you never got to say

A minute wasn’t long enough!

Very much not just Jam and Jerusalem: pictured are Maureen and Angela, 4 times winners of the darts pairs competition; members on a visit to Nottingham’s Bromley House library (spot the Greenwich Meridian line); and Carol’s beautiful hats and mittens, knitted for the Notts Teams4U project.
