81-year-old Clive is the sole carer for his wife Maureen and has recently become very worried about the rising cost of their energy bills as they spend more time at home.

Age UK Sheffield’s handyman David carried out a Home Energy Check and was able to provide ten new energy-efficient lightbulbs, a remote socket timer and a draught excluder.

Clive was also visited by Age UK Sheffield’s Independent Living Coordinator, Ruth, who provided him with some information on carers’ groups and a potential financial review to ensure they are receiving the maximum benefits.

💗 Join Us for Our Cancer Peer Support Group – Tuesday 20thOctober💗

Come along for a cuppa ☕ and a chance to connect with others in a warm, welcoming environment.

This supportive group provides a safe space to talk, listen, share experiences, and build connections. It is open to anyone with lived experience of cancer, as well as those affected by cancer, including friends, family members, and carers.
The group is facilitated by colleagues from Weston Park Cancer Charity, alongside members of our own Health and Leisure team who have personal lived experience of cancer.

✨ This month, we're delighted to welcome a guest speaker from Cancer Alliance, who will be sharing information, advice, and support.

Next Wednesday, organisations from across Sheffield will be at The Circle to talk about their current volunteering opportunities.

If volunteering has been on your mind, this is a chance to meet organisations in person, ask questions and find out more about the roles they have available.

Drop in between 10am and 2pm, meet the organisations taking part and explore the opportunities that interest you.

Ey up Sheffield,
I've been keeping a bit of a secret, but next Tuesday there's something very special happening at Sheffield Town Hall.

I'm incredibly honoured to be receiving a Sheffield Legends plaque.
This recognition is about the people of Sheffield. The people who've stopped for a chat, cheered me on from across the road, given me a high five, or dropped a few bob into the pram. You have been part of this journey every step of the way, and I'm incredibly grateful for your support.
Together we've raised over £1.2 million and made a difference to people living with cancer. That's something this city should be proud of.
Thank you, Sheffield, for getting behind me for all these years. I'll be thinking of June and Karen, and I'll be wearing my green wig with pride. Hope to see some familiar faces there.
