Welcome to the Bethlehem Care and Hospice Trust Official page, where compassion and support converge to make a profound difference in the lives of individuals and families facing challenging times. In Bethlehem, a significant challenge for many is the lack of suitable resources when facing life limiting illnesses. At this crucial stage, when comfort and dignity become paramount, people of

ten find themselves with limited options and nowhere to turn. Bethlehem’s healthcare system is underdeveloped and healthcare delivery is patchy. And whilst family networks are strong in Bethlehem, without palliative support, they are unable to help or comfort their loved ones.During a visit to Bethlehem in 2010, a group of individuals who are now Trustees witnessed the deprivation and struggles faced by many people in the community. Inspired by their firsthand experience, subsequent visits further highlighted the ongoing challenges that locals endured. Recognising the lack of available resources, the trustees initially set up a charity provision to to establish centres to support both local men and women. However, as time went on, the pressing need for hospice care became apparent. In 2018, the Bethlehem Care and Hospice Trust was established with the primary focus of providing much-needed hospice care within the community. We have since established a dedicated hospice at home care service to provide personalised care and support to people in the comfort of their own homes. By providing hospice care at home, we strive to create a warm, nurturing atmosphere that fosters a sense of familiarity and peace during this challenging time. We believe that every person, regardless of their background or circumstances, deserves to be treated with compassion and provided with the highest quality of care. Whether through donating, fundraising, or simply spreading awareness about the invaluable work we do, your support can help bring comfort, peace, and hope to those in need. Together, we can provide a sanctuary of care and compassion, fostering strength and resilience in the face of life’s greatest challenges. Please visit our website for details on how to fundraise and to donate.

Halifax Parish Bake Sale Raises £410 for Bethlehem Hospice

A massive thank you to the wonderful ladies of St Mary’s and St Alban’s Catholic Parishes in Halifax! In July 2025, they hosted a spectacularly successful bake sale, raising £410 for the Bethlehem Care and Hospice Trust.

The parish bakers – famous locally for their skills – put together an irresistible spread of cakes and pastries that sold out in record time. As the only licensed palliative care provider in the Holy Land (Palestine), we are incredibly grateful for this support. This generous donation ensures we can continue bringing comfort, dignity, and pain-free days to those facing the end of life.

Thank you to everyone who baked, bought, and showed what "faith in action" truly means!

Starting a new job usually means finding the coffee machine, but for Sr. Julia’s first day at Bethlehem Care and Hospice Trust, it meant navigating the winding alleys and steep stairways of the Old City.

But for our newest team member, Sr. Julia, the “office” looks a little different. Her first day didn’t involve a swivel chair or a cubicle; instead, it required navigating the ancient, winding stone streets and the notoriously steep stairways of Bethlehem.

While the numbers – over 5,000 visits and counting – tell the story of our growth, it is the daily, quiet moments of care that define the heart of the Bethlehem Care and Hospice Trust (BCHT). To understand the impact of your support, we invite you to step into a typical day for our nursing team as they navigate the unique landscape of Bethlehem to deliver dignity where it is needed most.

As Bethlehem begins to stir, our nurses gather at the BCHT office in the Parish Centre of St Catherine’s Church, situated just off Manger Square. Over strong coffee and warm greetings, the atmosphere is focused. The team reviews the day’s patient list, sharing vital updates and discussing priorit...
