The Wortley Ringers are on tour again!

We have joined some of the Hope Valley Ringers this afternoon, having a joint ring at St Peters in Hope and St Edmund un Castleton, followed by a pub meal.

It has been an afternoon filled with ringing: rounds/call changes, plain hunt, Plain Bob Doubles and Grandsire Doubles. Each tower has 8 unique bells, which are a pleasure to ring.

Thank you to the Hope Valley Ringers for inviting us across for a wonderful time ringing ❤️🔔

Happy Bell sunday!
Hoping you've all had a wonderful time ringing today.

We had 11 of our ringers this morning, ringing a mixture of: rounds, call changes, Plain Bob Doubles and Grandsire Doubles. Different ringers were calling go and stop for the methods, and we've had an excellent time ringing for Sunday Service.

St Dunstan is known as the Patron Saint of Bellringers due to his experimentation in early forging of bells in the 900’s AD. It is this reason we have chosen a Sunday near his feast day (19th May) that does not conflict with any other significant days in the Church calendar to promote Bell Sunday; a day where the contribution of bells and Bellringers to the life of the Church is recognised.

Happy 100th Birthday to Sir David Attenborough!

Last night, we made our practice to the absolute legend, Sir David Attenborough. We did some general ringing with rounds, plain hunt and plain courses of Plain Bob doubles.
In addition to this, three of our band - Dawn, Lynn and Alice - called 100 touches of Plain Bob Doubles!

It was a lovely practice last night ❤️🔔

Wortley Ringers on Tour - trip to Liverpool.
10 of our ringers have had a wonderful day out in Liverpool today.

We explored the Docks, had a coffee, ventured around the Cathedral before enjoying a lovely meal in the Cathedral's Bistro.
What came next, was the extraordinary part.
6 of those who went, had a ring in the cathedral, and they did amazing.
This was all topped off with a trip up to the bells, which were just magnificent!

Thank you to the bell ringers of for letting us have a ring and see the bells, and for being so welcoming and accommodating. ❤️🔔

Another amazing day with ringing and friends.

HAPPY EASTER 🐣

We have had a lovely ring this morning for the Easter Sunday Service. 8 of our ringers came along, and we rang a mixture of Plain Bob Doubles, Plain Hunt in 5 and rounds and call changes.

Our Steeple keepers, Andrew and Dawn, have also been up to the top of the tower to raise the flag 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 was rather blustery, but worth it for the views. One side was wonderful and sunny, the other not so sunny - observing the rain shower approach.

One of our ringers, Dawn, had also knitted the band a bunny with a creme egg inside ❤️🐣 they're just too cute.

Wow! Words cannot describe last night.
Excellent team effort from 6 of the Wortley band, completing a quarter peal: 1260 Plain Bob Doubles in 44mins.
A first full Wortley band ringing a quarter at Wortley in quite a few years (I believe perhaps 4 or 5 years?)

A first Quarter forJohn, covering on the 6th bell. 👏 Well done!

A well deserved cuppa and natter concluded the night.
A very enjoyable evening and ring 🔔❤️

Wow, wow, wow! What an amazing morning we have had!
For starters, we had ALL 12 of our band attend ringing for Sunday morning service, and we did some wonderful ringing (we even had a lovely comment from someone across in the pub).
We rang a fabulous 180 changes (a 60 and 120) of plain Bob Doubles, rounds and call changes, and Plain hunt on 7.
It's becoming a weekly occurance where we have all 8 bells ringing for a Sunday Service!
It's been a lovely ringing session in the spring sunshine.

We have an excellent group of ringers, who are all friends and thoroughly love what they do!

If you'd like to have a go at ringing, or even come along to see what we do, get in touch 🔔❤️ we are a lovely group of friends who ring together.

What a wonderful day we've had! 11 of our ringers went on an outing around East Ridings of Yorkshire today, and the sun was shining for us 🌞
We have loved ringing at:
- St James, Nunburnholme. 6 bells.
- St Martin, Hayton. 3 bells (and all ropes in a line).
- All Saints, Pocklington. 8 bells.
- All Saints, Market Weighton. 8 bells.
- All Saints, Holme on Spadling Moor. 6 bells.
- All Saints, Bubwith. 6 bells.

We have rung a mixture of rounds, call changes, plain hunt, Plain Bob doubles and Grandsire doubles across all churches.

We also have a new ringing mascot: Bob Major the ringing bear. At some point, he will be having his own little page where he shares his own ringing adventures. ❤️🔔

We can't wait for our next outing: potentially in the summer time.

A wonderful sunny ring for morning service at St Leonards today. 8 of our ringers came along and as always, it's a pleasure being able to have all 8 bells ringing on a Sunday.

We managed to get a little recording of our Plain Hunting on 5 ❤️🔔

Happy Sunday folks.
