First up in the results of our flower session this week are the images from our scanning station.

We took various flowers (and some other objects) then experimented with capturing them on a flatbed scanner. Including moving them while the scanner is running to crate more abstract effects

Inspired by a discussion in our community group chat about the works of and Robert Mapplethorpe this week we had a session capturing images of flowers with various methods. 

Still life portraits, in a flatbed scanner, and in a tank of water with inks and paints. 

What a fantastic session capturing so many great images!

.ledger is running a couple of free photography workshops in May. These will be great for anyone looking to have a lovely relaxing time being created in a safe friendly group. No experience needed. Bring your own camera or phone or borrow one from us. All welcome.

For our session last night we were joined by the lovely .edwardes and from .studio

They told us all about the new mural they will soon be painting here in the valley on the side of Gleadless Medical Centre. Then ran a workshop where we turned some of our photos into paper collages. An exercise in picking out the key colours, shapes and forms in an image.

Great fun! Something a bit different than our usual. Thanks Liah and Joel!!

Join us to learn creative techniques including photography, weaving, stitching and sun-prints to explore and celebrate the woods and water

We'll guide you through a range of fun and inclusive creative workshops around Gleadless Valley woods and waterways. You'll combine creative outdoor crafts, art, film and photography to connect to nature, ask healthy questions about the future of our environment, generate ideas for positive change, have our voices heard and celebrate our physical landscape.
