Free workshops - learn how to shoot event photography and work as a local photojournalist.

This will be fILMFAM's first series of workshops offering photographic training and even a few paid and supported on-the-job opportunities photographing regeneration projects in Gleadless Valley.

Shake it like a polaroid picture is a red herring. Unless you want the colours to mix strangely. A few weeks ago we experimented with trying to remove r emulsion layer of the image in water and then add it to another surface. Cameron led us and brought in some cool old equipment which she'd carried with her all the way from the USA. It was tricky. But we'll try again.

ARE YOU LOOKING AT ME?
A series of three free fun and friendly photography workshops with professional local photographers. Get creative and reflect on how other people view us and how we look at other people. Aged 8 – 18. When we first opened the doors to around a year ago and a few people shyly shuffled in we only hoped people would not only enjoy the group but also come to feel comfortable taking over the reigns, steering the group and working together on ideas.💛

Last night was just another typical weekly session where people turned up with ideas for the future, zines they'd made, fILMfAM stamps, keyrings and new cameras too show the group. 💥

Some went off on a hunt to photograph a woodpecker (achieved - well done Pat) 🐦

People have made filters for the group, scrapbooks about the group, catalogues showing fILMfAM's work, built a website, taught one another how to use cameras and computers, run zine-making workshops and run photo walks.

ALL OFF THEIR OWN BACKS.

I'm so happy to be a party of this group. Love our motley crew.

First up in the results of our flower session this week are the images from our scanning station.

We took various flowers (and some other objects) then experimented with capturing them on a flatbed scanner. Including moving them while the scanner is running to crate more abstract effects

Inspired by a discussion in our community group chat about the works of and Robert Mapplethorpe this week we had a session capturing images of flowers with various methods. 

Still life portraits, in a flatbed scanner, and in a tank of water with inks and paints. 

What a fantastic session capturing so many great images!
