The Children and Young People’s Empowerment Project (Chilypep) is dedicated to raising the voices of young people and giving them the confidence, influence and platform to shape their world and stay connected. We work with young people in Sheffield, Barnsley, across South Yorkshire and beyond. In Sheffield, our current programmes include:
- STAMP - for young people committed to improving the menta
l health and emotional wellbeing of young people across the city
- Happy Group - for young people who are recently arrived or unaccompanied refugees and asylum seekers wanting to make friends, have new experiences and learn more about life here in the UK
- Migrant Help - our weekly drop-in session for young people who have migrant status and are living in temporary accommodation
In Barnsley, our current programmes include:
Our wellbeing programme at HOME (Helping Our Mental 'Ealth)- for any young person in Barnsley experiencing difficulty with their mental health:
- Mindful Monday/ Wellbeing Wednesday - a 12-week block of wellbeing sessions for either 11- to 16-year-olds or 17 - 25-year-olds, focussed on being creativity, finding support and building relationships with like-minded people
- Feel-Good Fridays - alternating for 11- to 16-year-olds or 17- to 25-year-olds each week, this is our wellbeing drop-in session where you can play games, make friends and chill out before the weekend.
- Pride@HOME - for young people who identify with the LGBTQIA+ community looking for a safe space to share issues, experiences and creative activities
- BRV (Belonging, Resilience, Vocabulary) - for young men wanting to improve their emotional literacy, together
- Barnsley Young Commissioners - for young people with lived experience of mental ill health or a passion for improving support and services for others. Across South Yorkshire, we also:
- Deliver a range of mental health training courses to schools, colleges, the children’s workforce, frontline services, charities, local businesses and community members. These include Mental Health First Aid and Youth Mental Health First Aid courses.
