It was great to have lots of visitors at our site last weekend for Sheffield Heritage Open Days! Our site holds hundreds of years of stories and it's always nice to share them.

Thanks to our fabulous tour guide Carole and all the volunteers who provided cake, tea, and a warm welcome.

One of the items we had on display is pictured below - 10 points if you can guess what it is!

The Clarks were the last family to live at Whiteley Wood Hall.

Find out more about their story, and their links to the Sheffield PALS regiment and one of the city's most famous steel companies, at our Heritage Open Day this Saturday.

There are free tours of our site throughout the day and you can also enjoy a nice cup of tea and a slice of cake!

Adventures into space or back in time are now available for all groups!

Our Outdoor Learning Adventures - Space Explorers and Time Travellers - can be done as a day visit or you can build a themed camp or residential around them!

There are options to add on additional activities, such as cavepod, with extra themed challenges.

It's a great way to explore our site, take part in some fun activities, and have an adventure to remember!

The sun has been revealing secrets of Sheffield's past!

Whiteley Wood Hall stood on our site from 1663 to 1959 and was home to lots of fascinating people including Thomas Bousolver and Samuel Plimsoll.

The dry weather has meant the footprint of the grand driveway and turning circle, as well as paths and features in the Orchard, are now visible in the grass.

Our Centre Assistant Nat has been with us for a couple of months now so we thought it's about time he officially introduced himself!

Hi everyone👋 As a lover of the outdoors and a resident of the local area, I've spent most weekends the past couple of years exploring the Whiteley Woods area (always on the lookout for interesting birds, bugs, bats, and plants!). This part of Sheffield means a great deal to me and I'm very excited to have joined the OAC team, thank you for making me feel so welcome!😁

OPEN DAY FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS

We're inviting primary school teachers, leaders and support staff for an Open Day on Friday 28th August.

Come and see our lovely site and find out about our residentials, activities and school trips where children get to be Space Explorers or Time Travellers!

You can bring your own children and have a go at some of the activities from our new Outdoor Learning Adventures!

We're looking forward to sharing some of our Wide Games research project we've been doing with at the conference in Sheffield this week!

We've created a mini wide game, Collect the Caterpillars, for the other conference attendees.

Why shouldn't big kids get to play and have fun too!? 😃

Part of the care and management of our site involves monitoring the condition of our Grade II listed buildings and structures.

You may have noticed we have recently cordoned off part of the Orchard wall where there has been deterioration due to its age.

As always the safety of our customers is our priority so we will be implementing further restrictions to access as is necessary, either as a precautionary measure or so remedial work can be completed.
