SYRS stands for: ''South Yorkshire Ranger Service''. SYRS is a not for profit, community & environmental service. SYRS serves the people and local authorities of Sheffield, UK.. It is 'NOT' directly connected to any City or Town Council, South Yorkshire Police, Accident & Emergency Services, but it does co-operate with them if/when the need arises. paid, except for food & travel expenses. They help to solve environmental problems which other people are faced with and have been unable to solve themselves. They also carry out lots of other duties which are too numerous to mention here. Our rangers carry out their duties because they care about the citizens of Sheffield and it's visitors and local countryside. / Qualifications not necessary, free training given.
