Rotary Sheffield This page will keep you up to date on one of Sheffield's most active rotary clubs. Get involved yourself or come to one of our events!

Rotary Sheffield was formed in 1920; and is therefore the oldest Rotary Club in Sheffield. The club’s main project of the year are the Children’s Holiday Camps for disadvantaged children from in and around Sheffield, held at the Rotary Centre in Castleton, Derbyshire. We also run an annual RYLA course for the district, as well many other projects for the local community. Some members of the club also run the Sheffield Rotary Charity which owns and operates the Rotary Centre in Castleton. For more information please see: www.rotarycentrecastleton.co.uk

It's now just over a week since our Kids Camps for this year ended! Just a reminder that we're always hopeful of people who can support us in replenishing resources ready for next year's effort.

As our 2026 camps come to an end, we start to think about how we can make next year even better for our young people! To help us do this, we have created an Amazon Wishlist filled with donations of non-perishable items that we are in need of.

Camp 2, Day 5

Our camps for 2026 came to an end yesterday with a trip to Treak Cliff Cavern and Blue John Mines. The children explored the caves and had a wonderful time finding our about all the site has to offer!

A huge thank you must go to our group of young leaders who have supported across both camps this year! They have been excellent role models to our children, and the camps could not have run without them!

Yesterday was a day of team building as we spent the day on site completing a range of activities. The kids blitzed through problem solving, orienteering, relay races and party games! We certainly had some tired eyes come bedtime 😂

It's been a scorcher in the Hope Valley and at Tropical Butterfly House Wildlife Conservation Park today, and we've certainly made the most of it!

For most of the day, we've been engrossed by meeting a range of new animals which the children have loved! Then, back at camp, the kids have again taken advantage of our pool, before a fun-filled evening of table top games!

Another gorgeous day has been spent at Gulliver's Kingdom today, where the children have been amazing visitors at the park. This evening has been hot beads and mindfulness to ensure quiet corridors at bedtime, which worked a treat!

What a lovely first day at camp today! After leaving Sheffield, we headed to Longshaw Estate, National Trust for a morning of natural art! We've then made our way back to camp where we have unpacked, been in the pool, and been for a walk around the local village.

It was lovely to be joined by the Wortley Rotary Club, and we'd like to thank them for their time and generosity this evening!

What a lovely end we've had to Camp 1 today! The children were up bright and early to visit Treak Cliff Cavern and Blue John Mines, and were enthralled by the place. The kids asked so many insightful questions!

After that, it was back to camp for a 'picky bits' lunch, before heading back into Sheffield to meet our families. Thank you so much to our volunteers this week who have given up their time to make the camp so successful!

Camp now shuts down for the weekend to allow everyone time to rest, recoup, and enjoy Tramlines, before we welcome our next group of children on Monday!!

Another busy day yesterday saw us weaseling and scrambling on the rocks whilst taking in beautiful views of the Peak District! Back at camp, we cooled off with a slip and slide, then a dunk in the pool!! Jacket potatoes for tea meant full tummies and heavy eyes.

As for today... Tropical Butterfly House Wildlife Conservation Park, we're on our way!
