Over the coming weeks, members of the Lodge Moor choirs will be telling you about their experience singing with us.

Iri would like you to know:

“I love my choir. I have been in Lodge Moor Children's choir for many years and I feel proud of how far I have come in confidence but also my technical singing ability. I am in the harmony group and I really love learning harmonies because it's like a puzzle. It's challenging but in a really fun way. I really like Alexandra - she is a great teacher and has given us lots of opportunities to travel to different places like Birmingham and Manchester to sing in different competitions and events and get nice comments from the judges and other choirs like us.”

Hannah would like you to know:

“Hi, I'm Hannah Robertson. I am so proud to be a founding member of LMCC (2017-2025). The choir was, and will always be, a second family for me. Friendships for life were formed there, a place where my ADHD had no limits!

Fridays became the highlight of my week and prepping for all the exciting projects we did was so exciting. I remember singing at Young Voices in 2018 and dreaming of my future. Alexandra channelled all my energy and produced a professional singer who has just done her 1st BBC Proms with the BBC National Chorus of Wales!

I am so proud of what I've become but owe Alexandra and LMCC for giving me the opportunities to perform and compete from such a young age, which shaped my confidence and passion for singing.”

“I've been in the choir almost seven years now, and I've loved every second!
Everyone is so warm and friendly, it's so nice to be part of a lovely community of singers and to be able to refine my singing abilities surrounded by friends.

The choir has given us so many exciting opportunities, travelling to different cities and performing and competing in different venues. I've particularly loved the competition days, especially at Manchester, where we not only get to sing and compete in front of large audiences but we have a lot of fun together playing games too!”

Clemmie wants you to know:

“I love my choir because we get to learn to sing properly and in harmony. It’s so fun and it makes me happy. I really like all of my singing friends that go there with me - we have a lot of fun together. My favourite things to sing are the warm ups at the beginning because they make me laugh.

I sometimes feel nervous for the performances but when I start singing I don’t feel nervous anymore. My favourite performance was doing the competition in Manchester with the senior choir.”

Ella wants you to know:

“Having joined the choir almost 10 years ago, it has been such an important part of my life and played a huge role in building my confidence and creating lifelong friendships.

I have loved watching the choir transform over the years—from those early concerts outside Alexandra’s house (in the freezing ice and snow!!) all the way to having the incredible opportunity to sing for Britain’s Got Talent.

Even when songs felt challenging, Alexandra always made them manageable and enjoyable to learn, creating such a fun, welcoming environment.

I couldn't be more grateful for my time here!”

Romy wants you to know:

“I have been a member of Lodge Moor Youth choir for 5 years now and it has been an unforgettable experience. During this time we have had various opportunities to perform in local concerts and participate in national competitions across the country such as the Manchester Annual Choral Competition. It is always exciting to have days out travelling to other cities to perform and it has definitely helped to build my confidence by singing on a stage in front of different audiences. Not only have I enjoyed the singing aspect but I have also made great friends and it is such a closely knit group of people where everyone is easy to talk to and I instantly felt welcomed as I joined.”

“I love our choir because everyone is really nice (and loves to sing!) Alexandra brings all of us together to sing. The songs we sing are sometimes complicated, but always fun. There are many people who you can make friends with. Choir has been amazing, because I get to experience a different version of singing, than the solos that I usually do.”

Choir means a lot for me because (now) when I sing I feel confident, happy,and motivated to do my best. It has really helped me build my confidence and be a great singer!

Choir has also enabled me (us) to go on some incredible trips like Manchester competitions, Britain's Got Talent and many, many concerts which had been so much fun! - Eleanor

Well done to student Iri for her performance at the Hallam Choral Society Songs from Stage and Screen concert. It's lovely to have been invited to perform after winning the David Clover Musical Theatre Award last February! You smashed it again and I'm very proud of you!
