Efficiency North Nor-for-profit social housing procurement consortium supporting local communities in Northern England

Efficiency North Holdings brings together EN:Procure Ltd, EN:Able Futures CIC and EN:Able Build Ltd, 3 not-for-profit organisations who share a commitment to adding social value and supporting social and economic regeneration across Northern England. EN:Procure is an award-winning collaborative consortium of social housing providers working together in a culture of collaboration, benchmarking best

practice and peer knowledge sharing to generate efficiencies in the construction supply chain and provide intelligent procurement solutions for Northern England. The consortium’s vision is to work together with members to support their priorities and aspirations for their tenants and wider communities and to maximise its positive impact in 4 key areas: Efficiency, Workforce, Communities, and Sustainability. All savings and any surplus made by the consortium are reinvested in local communities through the EN:Able Communities CIO with the aim of creating training and employment opportunities and improving local facilities. EN:Able Futures is an award winning Flexi-job Apprenticeship Service (SAS) ensuring apprentices remain employed for the full duration of their apprenticeship, making it easy for businesses across the Yorkshire & Humber region to take on an apprentice, regardless of how long for, as they are not always able to commit to taking on an apprentice for the full duration of the training programme. EN:Able Futures is committed to providing the very best apprenticeship opportunities to the young people of the region and the industry. EN:Able Build is an innovative venture which aims to accelerate the delivery of affordable new-build housing schemes in the region by facilitating the building of projects that might have otherwise been delayed or not developed at all, and bring forward sites with developed infrastructure and serviced plots for self-build customers and SMEs.

We're really pleased to support our friends at Help 4 Homeless Veterans with this fantastic project. When they approached us for help we knew we could provide the professional knowledge and services to get the home ready. We've always been inspired by the work of CEO Bentham-Bates and founder Wood and the team of trustees and volunteers.

Thanks to support from , we now have a defibrillator located in reception at Collaboration Works to help protect our team and visitors, and people in close proximity, in case of a life-threatening emergency.

We sincerely hope it never has to be used but we’re reassured that, in case of emergency, we have the defibrillator and a whole team trained in how to use it and give CPR, thanks to the fantastic First Aid at Work trainer Moorwood.

According to the Heart Foundation there are more than 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests in the UK each year. Less than 1 in 10 people survive. Without immediate intervention with a defibrillator, most cardiac arrests are fatal. The chance of survival decreases by 10% per minute after a cardiac arrest. With effective and speedy delivery of treatment, survival chances can be raised to 70%, with the use of CPR and a defibrillator.

London Hearts is the leading heart defibrillator charity in the UK dedicated to helping and supporting communities through the provision of life saving heart defibrillators to ensure no one is ever further than 100 metres away from a defibrillator to save more lives. More information in comments.

💧 Small changes, big difference

EN:Able Communities Damp, Condensation and Mould Workshops are helping residents understand what causes damp and mould — and what they can do to stop it.

This chart shows how much people’s knowledge improved after the sessions. Nearly half said they now feel very confident about spotting and preventing problems in their homes.

It’s great to see how a bit of shared learning can make homes healthier and life a little easier.

🌧 Damp and Mould Action and Awareness Week (21–25 October)

Today marks the start of the second Damp and Mould Action and Awareness Week, led by Aico, the event highlights how social housing providers and partners need to work together to tackle the issue of damp and mould in homes, and the associated health risks.

At Efficiency North, we support this vital campaign because everyone deserves a safe, healthy home. Damp and mould aren’t just maintenance issues — they’re matters of health, dignity, and fairness.

Through our partnerships across the North of England, we’re committed to supporting initiatives that improve the quality and sustainability of homes, build knowledge and capacity within housing organisations, and help residents live in homes that are warm, dry, and safe.

We’ll use this week to share best practice, strengthen collaboration, and keep the focus on long-term prevention — not just quick fixes.

Our board came together for a day of strategic planning at yesterday.

The park provided a dramatic backdrop to the day's discussions and the perfect environment to discuss and develop innovative and exciting ideas for the company’s future evolution, listening to our members' needs, in what is a dynamic and very promising operating landscape.

Our well-earned reputation for the provision of intelligent procurement, value-adding ESG solutions and highly effective contract management for our members and customers formed the basis of future developments. Also central to the day’s discussions were harnessing digital and AI solutions and the exploration of emerging adjacent opportunities.

So, lots of exciting plans! And we continue, as ever, to hashtag
