We are a social enterprise, established in 2015 to raise awareness of and reduce the scandal of food waste. We've grown to save over 500 tonnes of food per year and now work on building a fair and sustainable food system for everyone in Sheffield. What happens when global crop yields plummet? We build a resilient local food system instead! 🌽

We want to ensure everyone in our city has access to fresh, delicious, and nutritious produce. Grow good food. Eat good food.🥗

At Food Works, we’re growing fresh fruit and veg specifically for our city’s tastes. That produce goes straight into our kitchens to create healthy, accessible meals for all.

Thanks to the Methodist Church Circuit, the second growing site at Carver Fields will mean we can scale up production so more people across our community can eat good, locally grown food every single day.

The backpacks are packed, the uniforms are (almost!) on, and school is back this week! ✏️

Now is the perfect time to bring hands-on food education to your child's classroom. Our school food growing programme delivers seasonal seedlings, easy grow guides, and expert support straight to local schools. At Food Works, we know that teaching kids the magic of growing their own food from seed to plate is a vital skill to be learned.

Here is Sarah's allotment (she's our Partnerships Co-ordinator) that her 2 children love looking after with her - and eating all the produce!

Did you know that when kids learn to grow their own food, they are up to 5 times more likely to eat their veg?🥕

Fixing the food emergency starts with our children. When young people plant a seed, help that seed to grow, and harvest their own food, they learn skills that protect their health and future for a lifetime.

Through our growing sites and school food-growing programme, we are making a direct impact:

🍏 Teaching Sheffield school kids where real food actually comes from
🌱 Sharing seedlings and knowledge with local educational spaces
🍲 Fueling young minds with free, healthy meals during the school holidays

With thanks to the Methodist Church, expanding our growing space to Carver Fields means more seedlings to share with local schools, more educational visits, and more fresh, local veg on children's plates across Sheffield.

Did you know that 9.5 million tonnes of food are wasted in the UK every year - while thousands of local children and families face food insecurity?💔

At Food Works, we refuse to accept that. Good food belongs on plates, not in landfills. By combining intercepted surplus food with fresh veg grown on local land, we're making our community meals healthier and more nourishing than ever:

🥦 More Sheffield-grown produce harvested directly from Norton Nurseries and Carver Fields
🍲 More veg-packed meals served in our cafes

🌟It's the last few days for you to grab free school holidays meals in Handsworth, Sharrow and Upperthorpe!🌟

Choose from:
- A hot meal in one of our cafes (Monday to Friday, 12pm - 2pm)
- Up to 2 frozen 'Just Meals' at our market (7 days a week, 11am - 2pm)

Available to all children, so no referal is needed. However they must be with you at the time of collecting.
